Never ever get dull with hiking (forest and mountain) and sightseeing of old villages etc etc. Their trains are clean and always punctual.
The only issue over in Switzerland is the cost of living - in Switzerland say 100 grams of chicken fillet would cost CHF$3. 50 whilst in Australia 1, 000 grams (1kg) cost only A$8 - A$12.

you can get a coupon for 1/2 price swiss card for 50 bucks for 3 months. then you can get the swiss pass for 50 bucks with the 1/2 price card. and that gives you discount on 1st class.
it can be very confusing. that also gives you 50% discount on yearly swiss 1/2 price and swiss passes. i always but 2nd class tickets and upgrade on the train. they do it for about 20 bucks each.
theres a 100 tricks they dont tell you. if you have a swiss pass its usually good for a month or more for a few hundred bucks. and then its just 20 bucks upgrades all month

I like how nate says the glacier express is hot because it was sunny that day. No dude. The air conditioning system is poorly engineered. Even when it's raining all day in Zurich the commuter trains are sweltering. Everyone has to shower after the commuter train before going out in the evening. Good I leased a car finally to get out of the sweltering Swiss train. Those trains remind me of boot camp in Georgia in August.

Who would want to pay 300 dollars to sit in a hot sweaty glacier train for 8 hours? Why not get the euro rail before the trip then you get to ride the regular train from St moritz to zermatt for free, as its included in your euro rail pass you use to travel to each country. And you can get off and on whenever you like.

swiss half card from what i understand is reserved for swiss residents! its a YEARLY price you pay, it actually services you for the whole year. No problem though! Swiss people are very nice and understandable (from what i understand, and they know that their system is much different!

Hey Nate! I wonder why you did not mention about the Swiss Half Fare Card + Saver Day Pass Combo which you can cost you only as low as CHF120 +CHF49 in first class. This is very cost efficient as the Swiss Half Fare Card last for 1 month.
