LIVING ON A HOUSEBOAT IN SEATTLE (tiny home tour) Dwayne: They made a bad call at Ivar's. Should have ordered the classic, fish and chips with the cod as the fish choice, not salmon. Cod was the original and has always been the most popular thing on the menu. Salmon was added sometime in the 90's perhaps? Regardless, the vast majority of locals order the classic Fish and Chips using Cod. BTW, a big part of the appeal is the tartar sauce used at Ivar's. It's their own recipe and it's awesome.

Lake Union gets NUTS on July 4th. We went to Gasworks park there to watch the fireworks and the city puts on a fireworks show that is orchestrated PRECISELY to a full, live, outside orchestra! It was about 2 hours to get OUT of the city traffic though. Also, that's the same lake where Bill Gates lives. I got to spend afternoon tea/drinks with his neighbors (where his nanny lives in their converted garage-apartment.

Living on the water is awesome, except for the constant motion of the whole house always moving. The ideal setup would be having a tiny house with a dock and boardwalk over the water on stilts that doesn't move, and having a house boat tethered to it that was extended living space/guest house that could be taken out onto the water.

Gay. Please leave. You priced us out because its cute. Now we have to live in federal way. Maybe.
I grew up here and always wanted a houseboat. Nope, because you like to pretend to be poor but you have to be rich to be poor now. I hope your -i love everyone except republicans- sign doesn't block your view.

There are about three times as many floating homes in Portland (Oregon) than in Seattle, although they dont tend to have the views of the downtown core like the ones in Seattle do. Although, presently, that isnt a terribly bad thing since Portland's downtown district is such a mess these days.

If you want clam chowder in Seattle try the Charlestown st Cafe. They have a location in west Seattle and in the Pike Place Market. Best clam chowder in the country. Really. They-ve gone to Rhode Island and won best clam chowder in the country many years in a row.

This is one of my favorite places you two have been. Refreshing and fun to be on the water in a houseboat, as a sailing recreationist I-m living through this vicariously and planning a trip to Seattle and maybe stay in a houseboat

Ahh my backyard. I live a little outside downtown Seattle. Haven't actually been since the pandemic. Which is crazy. I've been Kayaking on Lake Union, its really nice! But for goodness sake, life jackets please!

The idea of living on a houseboat is awesome, but the constant motion of the house always moving would suck. Also, Seattle is a wonderful geographical place turned into a politcal and cultural shithole.

We used to houseboat a lot growing up, and there-s a very specific smell to those marine toilets. It-s not sewage or nasty, per se. But I can still conjure it up in my memory. It-s distinct.
