I wish you had someone to guide you in trying the true local public food. Mexico city is world famous for its nice and expensive restaurants, but I'd say the local food beats it nonetheless.
I'm glad you enjoyed the climb! Iztaccihuatl is actually taller than any mountain in the contiguous 48 states, so don't be ashamed that you didn't summit. And it seems you got very close anyway.

Glad you enjoyed, but def stay in that area, a lot areas are not thar walkable, not even if youre not local to the area. The purple flowers are called Bugambilias. Your hike shots are breathtaking!

Kraig you will always be welcome to Mexico. Try Pico de Orizaba, its higher but a little easier tan Iztla. To summit Iztla you have to walk alot. In Pico de Orizaba you can drive to the shelter

That budget is more than what I spent filming 50 hiking videos across America. The big difference is I slept in my car for 3 months vs nice hotels.
