I am from Hawaii. When people ask me where I'm from, I answer Hawaii, not the USA. To the Chinese that assert What about the USA taking Hawaii or lands from the nations of the native Americans? I want to point out to you that 2 wrongs don't make a right. You foolishly fail to realize that you are comparing your _wrong_ actions with the _wrong_ actions of another. I just left Tibet. It's so obvious that the Tibetans and Chinese are two peoples. All of my 3 guides are Tibetan working for Chinese bosses. Not ONE has a nice thing to say about the Chinese government and Chinese people in general. My Chinese driver has lived & worked in Tibet for over 12 years, yet she cannot even say hello in Tibetan. Most Americans have the ability to admit the egregious wrong committed against the African slaves or native Americans. The Chinese? I haven't met one Chinese that will entertain the notion that maybe the Tibetans should be free. And I travelled extensively through China for over 4 months and I speak Mandarin. Open your eyes. Ask the Tibetans. What are you afraid of?

tibet has been a continuous part of China since Yuan dynasty. Ming dynasty gave tibet a lot of autonomy, while Qing dynasty had total control over tibet since 1720, that's longer than the existence of most modern states in the world. also the self-declared independence in 1920 was NOT recognized by ANY country, being recognized by others is the first and foremost important factor determining whether a country qualifies as a independent state. in 1920 other parts of China also declared independence from the weak central government. just like tibet they were all liberated from 1948 to 1950. deal with this historic fact, and now go and wait until that CIA monk dalai lama dies =) after his death we can finally have peace, and elect a 15th dalai lama using the Golden Urn method, this dalai lama will truly have the well being of tibetans in his heart. the days where tibetans are oppressed by theocratic slavery has long passed. this temple will forever be a common treasure for all Chinese, NOT some personal playground for a pretend superman

During the cultural revolution, red guards came close to destroying the Potala. Almost all monasteries in Tibet were destroyed at that time. Clearly, Chinese culture has a lot to answer for. Tibetans speak a different language, operated a different taxation system and currency to China. The International Commission of Jurists accuses China of genocide in Tibet. Tibetans find it almost impossible to receive a secondary education in their own language. Every year thousands of Tibetans flee Tibet, risking death at the hands of Chinese border guards. Clearly, Tibetans are desperately happy to be part of China. 's colonial system.

Well according to the BBC the mouthpiece of British imperialism Tibet is suffering under the evil occupation of China. Of course Tibet used to be a paradise when she were a British colony as we all know. Under the British rule all Tibetans were goat herders and sheep shepherds unless they sent a son to be a monk. No education or any sign of civilised modern amenities of life that the British take for granted. Just a backward, poor and slave country. China has done wonders for tibet regardless of what the vile, vicious & vindictive British liars say.

Just spent some time reading the comments. Yes, it was the most real video I've seen of the Potala Palace, a place I have fantasised about since I was a small child. (60 yrs ago). The thing that has struck me the most, is that very few comments have acknowledged that we are all the same, human beings, and going by these comments, its looking like all countries seem to want to do the one upmanship thing and put each other down. Why do we, as a race, even align ourselves exclusively to the country we live in? That feels limiting to me. Only a thought, people.

Chinese authorities must have ordered people to leave positive comments. Well, Lhasa has been prettified by the Chinese inadvertently or maybe intentionally to erase as much of Tibetan culture as possible without destroying the tourist industry. Because in China, money is everything. The more tourists the better The more Chinese occupying foreign lands, the better. China, by 2040 will be one spectacular Disneyland, but lacking in the essence of cultural authenticity. China is a Potemkin village.

This is a fake Lhasa. The real Lhasa perished when communist China invaded Tibet. Tibet was never a part of China. They ransacked and looted Lhasa. From 1966-1979 China committed Genocide of tens of thousands of Tibetans. Killing, raping, summary executions bc they want one system, one religion, one culture. This present day, Tibetans are still repressed and the same is happening in Uighur. FREE TIBET. FREE UIGHUR.

Its such a beautiful view of my motherland. Its so sad i am not allowed to live there. NO matter which dynasty ruled tibet. The fact that we are called TIBETANS shows an originality, shows we are not same as CHINESE. China is trying to end our existence and thats what bothers us. If you don't have the mutual understanding nothing will get solved. Don't let the ignorance cloud your mind.

I visited Lhasa several years ago. It was a lot more modern than what I expected. Very nice highways and railroads connect Lhasa with other cities at far distance. Generally speaking Lhasa is a clean and safe city. Yes, there were police in the street. But as far as I could see, local people practiced their religion without being interfered.
