The Ancient Maya City-state of Palenque was at its height between 500 and 750 AD. After that Palenque gradually declined and was overgrown by the jungle at the end. Today the Palenque archeological site has well-preserved Mayan ruins and is one of the most famous and visited Maya sites, it is located in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Palenque is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Date: 2021-12-17
