Vaguely Vagrant: Subbotnik was a time of forced volunteering for the Soviets. I lived in Russia and never witnessed or heard of this or knew anyone who still did this. Spick-and-span might be an extreme exaggeration. Beer isn't really considered an alcoholic drink in many countries. Largest, yes, but culturally diverse? Really? 190 ethnic groups of mostly variations of Turkic, Finns, and Mongols, but all pretty much russianized into more or less the same culture.
