correct me if im wrong but power banks etc must always be carried in hand luggage rather than hold luggage because of the chance that battery bursts into flames majority of airline crews would rather handle a fire in the cabin where they can deal with it rather than a fire break out in the cargo hold where no one will know it has started. but yea for years ive always been under the assumption that power banks and anything with lithium-ion rechargeable batteries must be on your hand luggage

Been to Calcutta (Kolkata) back in Jan 2018, spent there 4 days, have not seen a single foreigner on the street, had stomach problems after eating grapes (despite soaking them in boiling water) which caused my room toilet paper supplies to run out after 1 hr or so. Fortunately was able to use hotel lobby bathroom and re-suply lol. Other than that, typical Indian huge city with nice parks, National Museum and beautiful bridge over the river. And food is great there. Stayed there in The Lalit.

Hey Im flying from Chicago to Bangkok with a 2. 5 hour layover in New Delhi Airport. Flying United then transferring to Thai Airways. Would I need to pay the $80 something for the Visa entrance, go through immigration, collect my baggage and recheck everything over to my next flight? From the looks of it this is what it seems like I need to do. If anyone knows please leave a comment. Good looking out

Air India ground staff has been good to me before. I once noticed I was traveling with a prohibited liquid (tube of toothpaste) in my carry-on after I checked in and before I made it to the security checkpoint. They generously retrieved my checked-in suitcase so I could put the tube in there. Granted it was a small outstation airport with a tiny baggage handling system, but still.

Having been following your videos for over years now, I should be calling this a very pleasant experience so to say, the AI staff handled the issue very very professionally I must say.
And regarding cabin, AI is a legacy carrier, they are themed on the old maharaja charm, so you should have known that as well!

THESE EFFERS did the same thing to me and my mum when we took a bloody connecting flight from delhi to gwahati on another airline god knows whatever it's called. We had to leave the bag behind and fly without it. travelled the next day back to the destination airport to collect the damn bag which they claim had some effin mobile charger. crazy people

I don't fly enough to know that some items are permitted in some areas, whereas other areas they are not permitted. Its different per country I think. But I feel that the customer service handled that issue like a pro. Good on them on doing it in a timely manner. And I like how nice Noel was to them and understanding as well.

The time warp that is Air India! It's odd really as India is such a vibrant and fast growing economy, that you don't expect the national carrier to be so old fashioned with decor from the 60s and 70s. I know there is a history which can be found in some of the Raj hotels, but you don't expect to see it on a plane!

The outrage about the power bank is hilarious! The man made an error. Not sure about calling it a crazy experience other than just an experience. It was a good hook to get me to watch the video about a man taking a plane ride for the sole purpose of telling us he took a plane ride and had a curry.

the rule is due to fires caused by lithium batteries - it's in most of the world. in some cases you also cannot travel with a battery pack in your cabin bag if the capacity isn't clearly written on it! had mine confiscated in BKK (surprisingly the capacity not being marked wasn't a problem elsewhere.

You can't pack power banks in checked in suitcases now. I did it once by accident and I was also pulled back to the gate. They let me keep it if I store it in my carry on. Flight was delayed because of my 0iq mistake. Just don't put anything electronic in your baggage.

Dude its been said but how on earth could you not know a power bank cant go in checked luggage? You know how dangerous that would be if it had a thermal runaway? I thought it was common knowledge. Amazing job by Air India. That said, your videos are awesome!

Yes they don't allow anything electrical in most of Asia, particularly the poorer countries. Having items go missing is a big cost for the airlines and travel insurers. Your not allowed spare batteries in check in baggage anywhere in the world I thought?

The video should be titled 'Almost missed my flight because of my incompetence. '
The other issue is that security in the UK clearly missed it. I know that power banks and lithium-ion batteries are not allowed in checked luggage anywhere.

To be fair, that rule makes sense. There's been quite a few cases of exploding power banks / lithium batteries. If that happens in the cabin, they can extinguish the fire. If it happens in the cargo compartment during flight. well, good luck.

I have to agree that cabin for a NEO looks so outdated, it would also nowadays be outdated for a CEO as well. Youd thought when Air India started getting its NEOs it wouldve changed the look of its cabins.

Be careful when traveling to lndia as a foreigner. Almost every lndian locals will try their best to cheat your money one way or another. They basically consider every foreigner a rich guy.
