My AWFUL Saudia Flight: Flying to Saudi Arabia
video description
1. Security check: The airport staff in Tunisia is a scam and would scare you in the hope of some bribe. It is unfortunate that such a beautiful country has such a horrible welcome but I am told that the economic situation is not good after the failed social uprising and change of govt.
2. While you may have paid business class and are expecting the service, the lady at the counter may not have been hired on merit or due to her professional attitude but because she knew the right people. Her job is dependent on that person, not the service she provides to customers.
3. The steep ascent: As others mentioned, this is due to restricted airspace and security reason. It is nothing specific to Saudi or the A330.
4. The seat: Unfortunately, many airlines advertise some of their newer products but you aren't sure which plane you'll get unless you do your homework.
5. The inflight service: Is simply laziness/incompetence of the crew and the attitude of passengers. As a South Asian myself, I have flown countless times through the ME on different airlines to go to EU and NA. The flights between South Asia and ME and ME and EU/NA are as different as if one were flying different airlines or different classes.
6. The prayer: It is not something to be worried about and there is a very good reason for that. A lot of Muslim passengers landing at Jeddah are going for pilgrimage and at certain distances from Makkah, pilgrims are required to enter a state of Ihran or pureness in which they change their dress to two unsewn clothes and start praying and reciting prayers. It is an announcement for them that the specific point is approaching and they should be ready as it approaches while the flight is in the air.

Saudia- one of the worst airlines to fly
Extremely poor inflight service
On a 8 hr flight you will get a small slice of pizza and soft drink after departure and a muffin juice before landing.
If you ask for refills on drinks crew say they will be back but dont show up
If you go the galley they are sitting and chatting behind closed curtains
Saudi immigration is one of the worst in the world
10 immigration officers will be free and playing on their phones but refuse to serve you as they are dedicated to certain passengers only
No clue about processing efficiency or resource utilisation in busy periods
Immigration & custom staff are rude and bark at passengers!
Avoid at all cost

Thank you for a great video. Back in the late 90's I flew at Atlanta on American Airlines to attend the COMDEX computer show. On arrival at ATL on our MD-80 we touched down for a few seconds and the pilot went to full power emergency aborted landing (cue screaming passengers when the plane banked hard to the left and the overhead bins opened with stuff falling onto the floor) and we circled a couple times and the pilot came on saying he was sorry about that but it seemed there was a commuter jet that was crossing our runway and it was either abort or drive over the top of the jet.
I was ok until I got to my hotel and my hand was shaking so bad I could barely sign my check in paperwork.

The rule with many Middle Easter airlines (some more, others less) is that if you fly a route to a third-world country (South Asia, Africa) vs another route to East Asia, EU, or NA, it is like flying two different airlines or two different classes. Some airlines reduce the difference and others just expose it, but the gap is ALWAYS there. Part of it is down to the passengers too.

I was at this airport 3 times in 2 months. The 2nd floor restrooms wall mounted flush buttons, a few of them are broken in a lot of their restrooms. I practically had to walk the entire airport in my 7 hour lay over to look for working toilets. Filipino over seas workers always clap when the plane lands, its really annoying.

Pretty sure there is a steep take off requirement out of Tunis due to airspace requirements.
Trust me though, Airliners can climb way steeper than most people think they could. There is a ton of power in those engines and when the air is real dense close to the ground. sheesh. They can really get it.

The rudeness and ignorance at the airport might just come down to racism. I remember when I was in Morocco, I've never gotten so many hateful looks, sounds, and sometimes it was the demonstratively looking away and not looking into the filthy westerners eyes even while interacting with him.

I have heard a pilot say that there were issues with excessive angle of attack during the takeoff of the 737 (due to the installation of new powerful engines, which is why the Max version incorporated the MCAS system. I believe everyone is familiar with what happened afterward.

Iam glade you have shown to you some rudeness that you guys show others in UK. You are nothing but human with bad history. Outside that west, people still remember or read the crimes that your fathers and your state committed on the people around the world.

7: 02 I would have said Maines instead of Mains - but that is only because of my username and before I saw the light dinning - and either the pax windows were horribly dirty or there was a sandstorm taking place while taxiing.

I lived in Saudi for 3 years and travelled many times a year to visit family. Saudia is the worst airline I've ever been on, and they do not care to treat you with any human decency

I have been in Jeddah for 16 years. Did you try exploring the nightlife? People like to have leisure time mostly around the corniche area and malls and attend some programs and concerts.

Good review as usual. Been watching your reviews for a long time now. Just getting a feeling that there are a few more adds since you moved over to the US. Am I wrong or not?

17: 56 Most Saudis/middle easterners (especially those heading out for Hajj) have ZERO clue how to use a western bathroom. So many horror stories from flying in that area.

I think the thing to remember is that Jeddah ferries a lot of people on pilgrimage - hence the craziness of it. IMO 2. 5 hours is a lot but just something to consider.

Well you picked the worst saudia plane and probably the cheapest business class seats on saudia. I don't think they care about their flights from North Africa to Saudia.

7: 02 let me guess, the typos are boukhari, it should be bukhari and dinning should be dining. Whoever wrote / printed it didn't do a good job, no attention to detail.
