Noel another gem of a video but let me just say this whenever you or I are in another country we are the ones with the accent okay
I’m a Aussie but kiwis have the most hilarious accent anywhere of English speaking nation when you get a really broad Kiwi accent it’s almost like listening to a really broad Scottish accent that you can’t understand what they’re saying
Oh and Invercargill I drove there once from Queenstown all the way down and back and when I arrived in Invercargill I honestly thought it was Armageddon. It was freezing dark. The town looked very well yesterday. Should I say
Countryside was beautiful, but let’s say it’s an interesting place in New Zealand. Everybody should visit.

These airlines are Fiji Airways and United
The challenge being United's 787 Business class non stop from Dallas to Nadi Fiji and return on Fiji Airways A350 business class non stop Nadi to Dallas

Based on your Insta story, I was on island a few days ahead. Things you missed - 1. with your hour to spare, there is a good museum not too far from the post office you could have spent the hour in 2. The post office also doubles as the pro shop for the golf course, you just catch a glimpse of the old golf clubs available to borrow 3. There is an option to land on a beach and do a walk 4. Stay the night and you will see a kiwi, we observed one 100m from the pub in someone’s front yard. 5 the bus stop that is part of the pub

Karma cola is pretty substandard, I don't understand how it's survived. I'm guessing they must sell the product to cafes for a lower price than coca cola.
Coca cola suppliers are pretty shit for small businesses, I can tell you for free when I was in hospo our direct coca-cola suppliers that we 'had to' order from was often more expensive than Pak n Save, especially when they have a sale on where it would be so ridiculously cheap.
I cant blame small dairy owners from buying their supplies at the supermarket.

Year 8 is approximately 12yrs of age (we start school at age 5, usually, and finish in year 13, which used to be called 7th form, when I was at school. Next trip, you might consider heading out to the Chatham Islands and/or Great Barrier Island.
I suspect you were thinking of the moa, which is extinct, not the kiwi, which is most definitely not extinct. Glad you had some Southland sushi (the cheese roll, but it’s not generally deep fried.

I took this flight over 10 years ago when they flew smaller planes and got to sit in the co-pilot's seat. That was one of the most memorable flights I've ever taken. I'd go to Stewart Island again, just for that flight and the fish and chips.
Next time you're in NZ, take the flight from Auckland to Great Barrier Island. It's a half-hour flight that's entirely within Auckland, and Great Barrier Island is quite similar to Stewart Island.

Kiwi's are not extinct, just nocturnal and extremely shy usually hidden well in the bush so can be very hard to spot, especially during the day. Thanks to some great conservation work there is a strong resurgance in their numbers of various types of kiwi but they can still be very hard to find. Even most of us Kiwi's have trouble spotting Kiwi's. Nice to have you here Noel, hope you enjoyed your time.

Noel, there are Kiwi observation tours bookable on Stewart Island, they are evening tours and are usually combined with a wildlife spotting cruise. Whilst there are no guarantees that you will see any Kiwis the guides do their best to ensure that you do. The other thing to enjoy, if it is clear, is the night sky, as there is almost no light pollution and the stars are stunning.

New Zealand is so remote that on these planes they do not even bother to put the full registration on it. Saw the same of most General Aviation planes in NZ as well. Just FWZ instead of ZK-FWZ what it officially is. Would not allow them to take these planes anywhere internationally but unlikely that this would ever be needed. jealous that you can do this kind of flights.

When a flight is schedule town folk drive out in trucks and atvs. Our flight was early June and instead of water, still sea ice for many miles. Would much prefer flying into and exploring Stewart Island.

We did this flight (and back) a year ago. We were doing the great walk in a circuit around Oban through the bush.
We had the plane to ourselves on the return journey as the first one was full of passengers. You know you are in for a ride when the pilot has to balance the plane with people. Thanks for the video, brought back great memories.

In stoke in store. I remember in the mid 80’s traveling to Oban from Invercargill by ferry and it took over 3 hourswith 3/4 of the passengers vomiting over the sides. Luckily my dad and I were spared. But it was agreed that the family would take the 20 minutes flight back rather than return by ferry. I think the airstrip may have been grass

This was lovely what a lovely spot (few years ago now we saw Billy Connerly and his show, he want and had a show in Stewart Island and when he ask 2 of the locals if they will come to his show that evening, they say they will go and see him in Dunedin. he comes all the way to the island for them to snub hm out) Thanks for that

I love these videos where you travel to some of the most remote places on this earth Noel. Places where most of us would never travel to. I love the tiny planes and the tiny local airports and airfields. Never seen any footage of this tiny island before as far as I can remember. Thanks for another very enjoyable video Noel.

Ryan Creek air strip is a private strip exclusively for Stewart Island Air. Decades ago a group of us were tramping across the Island from Mason Bay. We hired two Piper Cherokee planes. They landed us on Mason Bay Beach. They need to time it well so the don't strike high tide. You certainly need sand fly repellant.

Ahh, New Zealand birds. Love those little feather balls. Had a big one try to enter the bus my abroad group was taking when we stoped for a break on the way to Milford. Kinda sad the bird sanctuary was a little expensive, but I didn’t want to go alone during free travel weekend

My grandkids were born in Dunedin! South Island does take a lot from Scotland. Dunedin is the same layout as Edinburgh whether it makes sense or not. I love it down there! My daughter worked down there for ten years. Absolutely beautiful and a bit unexpected
