Check your local public television station for this Rick Steves Europe one-hour special or watch it at In this hour-long special, Rick Steves explores the historic and cultural wonders of Egypt. In Cairo, we climb into a pyramid, greet the Sphinx, and marvel at King Tut s gold. In Alexandria, we wander back lanes and stroll a Mediterranean promenade. In Luxor, we revel in the pharaohs' temples and hidden tombs. And after a timeless cruise on the Nile, we finish at the temple ruins of Abu Simbel. Vahan: I am too lazy to travel (and would rather use the money to buy good stocks and tiny slices of bitcoin) but it's great to watch this on a big screen TV. You get some idea of what it's like, seeing the highlights while avoiding hustles and dangers. Thanks Rick!

Absolutely wonderful documentary film! And what makes it even more special for me is that Tarek Mousa from Egypt & Beyond who partnered with Rick to produce the film, is an extremely dear friend of mine who I was lucky enough to work with many years ago. Bravo, simply wonderful account of a stunning and incredible country!

19: 33 That's moussaka? In Greece, it's something completely different. Almost like lasagna. But in Egypt it's apparently eggplants with tomato sauce. It's really interesting to see how the same food name can mean so different things in different cultures at the same time.

I loved the part of Alexandria Rick, I can claim that you made the best ever professional video abput street life in Alexandria! I lived in that area half of my life and have never seen it as detailed and thorough as you showed it to me.

Tourists are sadly ruining them with trash, touching and disrespect. I was there a great place and history. Stop touching the ruins inside the pyramids and stuff.
