Unfortunately I haven't been able to get MREs that I can eat. I can't eat beef or vegetables. And usually they're loaded with one or the other. It's hard to even find Mountain House meals that I can eat. I usually pack a couple pork steaks and some dried pork/chicken/turkey or pork/chicken weiners!
I usually get security guards knocking on my windows when sleeping in a parking lot but have had a few RCMP officers knock too! I just let my dog out and chat with them. They're usually called by some Karen w an unruly chihuahua/pekeapoo/yorkie that my AmStaff sniffed n talked back to. It's ok for their dog to bark uncontrollably but mine can't bark once to tell em to shut up. My truck is camera equipped so I tell them I want her charged and show them what actually happened. One actually waited, on the other side of the lot, and was shocked when she was arrested for filing a false report. For saying that my dog went out of her way to attack and chase her, when she stalked up to my truck to verbally attack me for parking to wait to unload at one of the stores in the mall.

That's something called the police on you for have a firearm. I have had that happen to me before and I live in the woods of south east Georgia and it's not uncommon around these woods to see someone with a firearm because we grew up doing it and you just never know when you might need one like scare off a bear or panther or coyotes and we have those around here and we might just get the idea to go for a walk and camp out at the river and it is 4miles straight through the woods and you just never know what you may walk up on like a rattlesnake big around as your leg and 5 feet long to cottonmouth snakes and timber rattlesnake. It's not a good idea going off without some kind of protection and we have had some teenagers murder a Man and throw his body out here in the woods by the river and his corpse had been there almost a month before someone found his remains. They caught the teenagers that committed the murder and sentence them. So I'm not going for a long or short hike without my firearms with me and that's a sidearm and rifle and my survival gear.

Regarding US military MREs: try the Chilli Mac and the Chicken Fajitas. Also, stay away from the Wheat Snack Bread unless you don't want to crap for a few days. On the other hand, the Jalapeno Cheese and Crackers are a nice snack.
There's are several different menus of US military MREs, each menu having a number of different meals. Some of them are rather bland - White Chicken Chunks, for instance. Often, we would put the parts of the meals we didn't consume right away into an empty box, and make meals out of the cast-offs later. Perhaps the White Chicken Chunks on their own aren't exactly a great meal, but combined with some cast-off tortillas, a packet of salsa, and some rice, and that's a nice little meal.

Don’t these police need a warrant to go on private land or invade somebody’s property
And don’t these police now have drones to check out suspicious activity from the air.
Sounds to me like this jogger thought that his community was being taken over by unknowns, gypsies or illegal immigrants and that a camping site was being set up to smoke weed or something. Why else would they come with sniffer dogs
Then again it’s open sesame if your private land has a public footpath running through it.

I hope you all caught the that’s what she said. I’m a 50 year old woman and I say that to get a chuckle from people. . Mike, you are too nice. I’m part Italian AND live in New Jersey, US so if I was making a video and people commented on me eating MREs, they’re would be a lot of cussing! You’re a dad and husband first and the fact that you feel that is more important to you just proves that Graeme raised you right!

Did you just let out air in bed That's what she said! On a side note those officers acted more like our American sheriff department they don't get startled easy and have their ego present and their pride in front of them. They more likely knew this call was going to be a flop but in the name of duty and perhaps the person who made the claim they had to do their do justice to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary

correction: carbon monoxide (CO=28) is the same molecular weight as nitrogen (N2=28) both lighter than oxygen (O2=32. N2 and O2 comprise 99% of our atmosphere. The low vents will not preferentially remove CO. The gas that is heavy is carbon dioxide (CO2=44, low vents may help it leave a tent. Enough ventilation is essential since we need lots of O2 to live and too much of either CO2 or CO will kill us.

Nice that the officers were polite about it. We've had this happen when we're out camping or shooting on crown land, but it's to be expected. Sometimes when we camp we pack in some extra ammo if there's a good spot to set up a target range, and there's always a chance someone will call in gunshots. Never had any issues with it, when they see the targets along the berm it's pretty obvious we're not poachers.

Imagine being the police who have no information to indicate someone was actually breaking the law and still decided to enter private property and do an investigation. It's great that everyone was friendly but by American standards, this was a gross violation of personal freedoms. Your neighbors can basically have you investigated at any time for any reason by just saying they think they saw you with guns.

It's good that they were polite about it, but the police were in the wrong there. Merely seeing people with firearms in the countryside is not reasonable suspicion of a crime and not justification to enter private land without an invitation. Do they wander into people's homes with dogs when they pass cars on driveways in case people don't have driving licenses and car registration certificates

I'm not surprised that they contacted the police, lots of people here in the UK have very limited contact with firearms of any kind and were probably thinking more of poachers not realising it's a part of forest management.
The only reason I know longer have a firearms or shotgun license is because I no longer shoot, you can make a really nice burger from grey tree rats!

Nice video Mike, that NEW pamolly tent is Nice. FYI, police officers are NOT Allowed. On private land, without informing the owner of the property. As that is trespassing, even if you don't own that property, & have promise to be there. Don't say anything, except. I have promise, go away to a coffee & donut store ( Tim Hortons).

A very interesting camping episode about guns in the UK. It's always a good thing to be on cordial terms with law enforcement. I happen to live in a US state that requires no license to carry open or concealed weapons. I imagine you've read or heard about the gun control and gun registration debate in the US. BTW. I'll take the RED pill.

Dont apologize about the MRE, haters going to hate. but really the MRE should be apologizing to you because they are so bad. Be happy they got rid of the cheese egg omelet. As far as the cops are concerned when after WW2 did the British people become such pansies Id have been ticked off, people need to mind their own business.

It sounds like the jogger has little experience of country life and field sports. I hope the police gave them some feedback so they understand it was a mistake to call them in the first place. I've recently fitted a silencer to my air rifle just because I'm concerned my neighbours might hear me shooting and call the police.

For those that know we know. I dislike when people have to be so critical about those who try to bring inspiration & hope to those of us who dream of doing what he does. why give a good soul grief If you're miserable, why not keep it to yourself It wont make your life any better by being miserable to others

I doubt very much that the police had anything better to do, they don't waste their time with actual criminals or crime they're after your average Joe, its a shame the police force has headed that direction although in this instance they seemed to be reasonable I assume its because you complied so easily.

The problem is clueless townies moving to the countryside. I used to get a few calls from people like the jogger, reporting men carrying guns in gun slips or out ferreting. They were nearly always irate when I explained there were no offences, claiming that it was wrong for people to be out shooting.

For a mat that kinda keeps you from rolling (helps for me) is the Exped Dura 8 Downpad LW. LW = long and wide, could probably go with just W since you are a bit shorter than me.
Could also go down on the R-value, I use mine mostly in the winter in Norway, so around -20 C or colder

CO is not heavy. It is almost the same molecular weight as normal air and therefore would just mix with it. You will not have a stratification of CO and air in your tent. Any stratification would be hot vs colder air so you can place the CO detector anywhere in the tent.
