I like to hang the hare from it's back legs, nick the skin at the ankles and pull it down like taking off a shirt, nick again at the crotch and the whole skin comes off with a downwards pull. You don't need a cleaver, just cut on a joint. If you cut the meat around the neck bone, a quick twist will take the head off. I like the tip about dunking the rabbit in water to keep the fur off the meat. I never thought of that, will definitely put that one into practice. it's like the gentleman said, there are 1000 ways to do this

Been ferreting for 40 odd yrs Why wouldn't you gut your rabbits in the field just leave the offal in for the ferrets and take it out when skinning? Skinning no knife required either. We can all learn something everyday but not from this I'm afraid
reply

A skinning knife for rabbit? why? once the gut cavity is open slide your hands between the flesh and skin and run the skin off without a knife, in fact the gut can be opened with the back claws of the rabbit.

You should do some other crafting like weapons making the might be easy for you with your creativity some you could do are things like bow, spear thrower, sling, arrows, fling a bola, ect

I always gut mine in the field. I use a knife that just sticks out past my finger by a couple of mm unzip it and a quick sharp movement and guts out without putting hands in

Can I ask a daft question. what about eating a rabbit that's had or has mixematosis? Is it ok for us to eat? Great video otherwise, very informative and well presented.

Really good, as always. The part where he was talking about how he cooks them really made me hungry And did you saw he used a Swiss knife

Man you make this look hard the first thing I do is skin the rabbit and then gut it plus check the liver for white spots for rabbit fever
