No, the large building you saw was the Old Amy Navy Hospital. That building was erected in 1933 The original hospital opened on January 17, 1887, it was the first military hospital in the US. I have lived off and on in Hot Springs since 1959.
My father was discharge from that hospital in 1945.
You really didn't do Hot Spring justice, there so much more to do and see. We have 3 large lakes and a 4th just 30 minutes south.
The current population is up to 38, 400 and has been steady growing since the 1970s.

President Jefferson sent expeditions, not just Lewis and Clark by the way, all over the United States out of curiosity. Also to map and document the land and the main modes of transportation which were rivers. One of the expeditions ended up in Hot springs Arkansas and they were amazed at the amount of settlement that was there. They were cabins all around Hot springs or the hot springs. There were Spanish French American and native American trappers all around, all living together peacefully.

Awww I miss visiting that town. Both sets of grandparents that lived there passed away about 5 yrs ago. I have only been back once. It’s a popular place to retire. Loads of people live on Lake Hamilton and Lake Quachita (pronounced Wash-It-Aw) Mt Ida near Lake Quachita has amazing quartz crystals you can dig up yourself. That land is magical. Next time try staying on the lake! Cajun Broilers is a great restaurant there off Airport Rd.

It was actually the very 1st of the National Park quarters because the national Park was the very 1st land the U. S. Govt set aside as a U. S. reservation. The Govt recognized the value of the Hot Springs LoL

Love thermal baths, went to them regularly when I lived in Germany; affordable and plentiful in Lower Saxony and Hamburg among other places. They're not as common here in the UK and I've been wondering if they're much of a thing in the States either. If I had to go somewhere in Arkansas it'd probably be here after watching this.

This is where my dad was born and raised, and where my grandmother lived until she passed away. My dad left here at 16 to served in the AIr Force (for 30 years, and has been in Texas ever since. he is 95 now, and enjoying retirement. I visited my grandmother here about 20 years ago before she passed away. I liked Hot Springs.

Hot Springs, Arkansas a beautiful place. Amazing bath houses, hot water and even faucets of hot water for everyone. Interesting Indian background and places of sanctuary. Nice hotel u oicked, always love you & your wife's take on trips. Awaiting next town. RB, Conyers, Ga.

That Empire State Building looking building you panned up to across from the Arlington Hotel is being renovated into a Marriott. The closed down building overlooking the city is a former Army/Navy Hospital and city residents are pushing the government to do something with it

I buy soap from Bathhouse Soapary there in Hot Springs. Best soap ever. I spent a month in Bentonville with my gramma and my Mom and I found the people in Arkansas some of the nicest most friendly people next to Tennesee. It was some of the best memories of my youth.

That is weird how the trees are all dormant on one side of the street, and plush and green on the other side of the street. You will want to check out North West Arkansas one day. Mountain View, Eureka Springs, Bentonville, etc. it’s a night and day difference

This city is really one of the best places in the world to be! Has an absolute vibrance with everything it has to offer! Living in Benton, Arkansas and only being 40 minutes away from this city is a true blessing for sure!

That Grateful Head is their 2nd restaurant. The original is in Hochatown Oklahoma. If you find yourself back in Hot Springs try Bubba Brews. The food is good and looks a little pricey until you see the portions.

Not in the Ozarks, that starts across the Arkansas river you were in the Ouachita mountains, actually mountains! The ozarks, are eroded plateaus, that resemble mountains. It’s all north of the river

I spent a bunch of summers there in my youth. It's the coolest place, best water I've ever drank. The diamond mine is cool too. There was volcanic activity there in the past.

Al Capone used to stay at Arlington Hotel. Was a Baseball Spring training place. Babe Ruth went there. Famous race track Oaklawn Park.
