Only the Americans would erect a statue to a fictitious character from a Hollywood movie. Probably because their make-believe history is more impressive than their real history.
I spent a fortnight in the city of love twenty years ago and while downtown was okay, but not that interesting, the rest of the city was pretty sure, dirty and lots of trash. I was stopped by Leo's twice down by the river and told to leave as the areas I was in were very unsafe. I stayed in a famous architect designed hotel near city hall.
I liked certain parts but I prefer New York, Chicago and Los Angeles well above Philly. I walked everywhere, as I always do, and walked to the train station, which was interesting.

It is funny how people from USA say what they think is busy with people on the streets in small and big cities. I'm not ripping yas like but when I compare how busy the streets are with people in towns and cities in the UK with how it is in America. Obviously the uk is much more densely populated than USA. Just a comparison is like a town in sort of like liverpools suburbs with a population of around 80, 70, 60, 50 an even 40 thousand like widnes or Kirkby they have much busier foot traffic than the massive city like philly. I rekon Americans heads would fall off if they had to try and adapt to are mad busy cities and towns.

Joe - I can't believe that you didn't mention or visit the famous Reading Terminal - it's an amazing wall to wall collection of food stalls and shops; then every Saturday morning there's the Italian market in South Philly - walk through outdoor stalls for fresh produce from south Jersey; cheeses; fresh baked breads; spices; fresh ground coffees; pastry; Cheese steaks; hoagies, aDuhveuguld - he discovered unique plants and trees (some of which have disappered completely in situ; Phila

Philly has a wealth of wonderful neighborhoods, center city, old city, to northern liberties and Fishtown, among many more Unfortunately, the challenged areas get most of the press. Admittedly, driving a large car or truck can be difficult, but the smaller streets are great from the pedestrian’s experience. Philly’s smaller block sizes play a role in this. Hope you enjoyed your stay.

Are city centres/downtowns in usa the same as UK regarding like UK cities have the business district part of are centres but possibly every UK city has very large numbers of retail and entertainment businesses. I have not noticed that USA cities have streets and streets for shopping. If that's the case then I understand why UK city centres have a lot more foot traffic than USA cities.

I hang out in Philly most weekends. Super underrated city. There’s no other large city where you can can you walk from colonial aged neighborhoods where people still live and still be able to walk to down town. I know Philly has some problems like most cities, but the architecture is top tier, the food is amazing and the bar scene is super fun too.

I love the title of the video. We are a rough city and honestly thats what we love it for. We have our gentrified areas, we have our up and coming areas and we have some rough areas and then Kensington. But it really is an up and coming city if the cranes all around the city didnt give off that vibe: ) Glad you enjoyed most of the city!

I’m from Wales and have luckily travelled around the States a few times by Grayhound, have been through Philadelphia twice and didn’t fancy exploring the place, after watching this video I’m now really annoyed with myself it looks a really impressive city. Keep up the good work I just love watching your videos.

I'll wait to see the rest of your Philly tour because Philadelphia is more than downtown and Kensington. Philly has Chestnut Hill, West Mt Airy, Upper West Germantown, Greater Northeast, University City, Wynnefield, Overbook Farms, etc. This is the only balanced way to comment on a large city by seeing the city.

3: 30 That’s the Pentagon in the front
4: 20 That’s Rosslyn (Part of Arlington)
6: 50 You’re on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. It cuts through a National Park the whole way so they can’t build there so that’s why it looks country. Also why it’s only 2 lanes, they can’t/won’t expand it.

I used to be a catering delivery person that walked on foot in center city philadelphia and delivered to most of the buildings on broad street, in city hall and many of the huge buildings. It was an amazing experience! Thanks for making a video on it, watching from England now

From Fredericksburg Virginia born and raised, it is a Colonial and Civil War historical town. Quantico also has the National Museum of the Marine Corps. I never went since Its not my thing, but if military history is your thing it may be worth checking out.

Roads are narrow because they city was built with walking around not driving in mind, and the city still tries to encourage walking or taking the train over driving because, less traffic and less pollution.

Having lived outside of Philly and spent time in Boston, I somehow managed to move to a city with what seems like worse traffic and worse roads - Houston.

I'm from philly, the streets are narrow because they were made for horse drawn carriages. What always bothered me is, everything is a one way street.
