CAMDEN, New Jersey Is Literally A TRASH DUMP

CAMDEN, New Jersey Is Literally A TRASH DUMP It’s so sad what is happening to so many cities and towns in America.
I guess the reason that so many manufacturing plants shut down and moved to the South, Mexico and the Far East was just lower costs so Walmart could sell cheap clothing that was made in China.
What would happen if the tariffs were increased on imported textiles, steel and other products made overseas Would the countries who had to pay higher tariffs just retaliate and raise their tariffs on US produced goods
I mean look at Detroit - they’ve lost a huge amount of their population when so many of the automobile manufacturing plants shut down there and production was moved to the Southern US where there are no unions and Mexico where they can pay their workers dirt poor wages.
The cost of all this was a lot of manufacturing jobs that allowed someone with just a high school diploma to get a good paying union job and afford to live a comfortable middle class lifestyle. Advances in manufacturing technology (i. e, robots that you see on automotive assembly lines) probably also contributed to the decline of manufacturing employment.
This all helped contribute to the rise of Trump and his asinine MAGA movement. I got news for Trump supporters he isn’t going to bring back the high paying manufacturing jobs that have been lost in America no one is. He is a liar and the people who support him are delusional.

I lived in Camden in the mid 70's as a kid. I use to love that city, and still do. But it's a shame what's happened to it. It's really corporate greed that doomed this city. When businesses leave, there's not much of a recourse for a city like Camden. The sad thing is that it's prime real estate, and right across the river from Philadelphia. Many businesses are taking advantage of tax abatements, and setting up shop there. Subaru, L3, Holtec, and others. One day Camden will come back and become a Hoboken type of town. But that's going to take some serious time, and a group with a serious vision. What's going to be interesting is with more and more people being able to work from home, the suburbs becomes more attractive and location isn't as important. It's sad, but I hope Camden returns strong one day.

Joe: There’s no doubt that companies leaving Camden had an impact, but whoever told you that’s why the city looks like it does is lying. Companies have also left Camden BECAUSE of the high crime, revolving door judicial system in NJ, and an apathetic public who decide to live in squalor. No one imposed’ any of that on them. Add in a historically corrupt & incompetent government (state &local) and you have the formula for a failed community. Yet, more & more of our tax dollars are poured into failed projects &policies, instead of incentives for people to work and accountability for criminal behavior.

I reminded them it's on sidewalk and street. they have no say. bottom line. it's takes a certain kind of. jerk. to stop someone cleaning up the neighborhood and making sure kids don't have to play in garbage and/or broken glass. or dog doo.

What happened to the narration! no facts! no home prices, nothing! Taxes in New Jersey are the highest in the nation! but this is the worst city in New Jersey, I have driven a truck in this area, NJ, NY, PA, CT, and this is, the most shocking city! One of the worst in the nation from what I understand, getting better and the people working to make it better deserve a thank you! You have my respectI guess you were shellshocked good video still!

Now you are in my territory. NJ is one of the smallest states. and you choose to go to Camden as one of your first places to explore Joey and also Trenton Give me a break. The state is already against southern New Jersey (they keep the wealth up north, but I guess you don't know that. So now that you do and now that you have trashed us while you are south of Trenton you could make amends by touring Cape May, Haddonfield, and Moorestown!

The first and last time I went to Camden. I got on the wrong train and this is when cellphones were not super common. I was 15 and scared. I asked a guy to let me use his phone to call my friends to meet me here so there were zero payphones around. He said yes. I made a 2 min phonecall to my friend to come get me and then he asked me for money immediately after for using his phone. I hated Camden.

This is the same stuff they do on these tv commercials implying that Africa is dirty and there are beautiful nice parts of Africa. Same thing with Camden yes you went into these unwanted conditions of Camden but did you show all the beautiful apartments in the centerville area or down town 11 copper where they built 11 copper apartments or even the Hilton Garden Inn in Camden

I grew up in South Camden by the shipyard, we had our family car stolen in front of our house, 3 day later, they found our car stripped and burnt, in North Camden that was bad then, moved out in the summer of 1969, 12 years later our house was boarded up, now it just a weeded field, Broadway sure didn't look like that in the early 60's, now retired living in Eastern Tennessee

I went to high school in Paulsboro NJ in mid 60’s and Camden back then was a complete dump and a dangerous town. Paulsboro was not much better and about 8 miles away. Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, Collingswood were some of the nicer areas nearby. We have not failed these towns, the residents of these towns have failed them. What is the percentage of blacks in Camden

There is being poor then there is poverty where people have lost all hope and can no longer see a way out. You comment that people should not have to live that way and you are right but it is those very people who throw their trash on the ground and walk right past without doing anything. It is those very people who have lost their pride.

I visited Camden in 2015, when I visited my office in Philadelphia. We went to Camden on a Sunday to see the adventure aquarium & battleship. We also walked along the river front & enjoyed a ride on the patco high speed line. The next day, everyone in the office was like, why did you even go there It's the crime capital of the US.

Their waterfront is lovely, they also have Cooper Hospital and the Ronald McDonald house. I do notice a similarity in the small, dilapidated towns may it be Camden or Mississippi I don't see any supermarkets/ grocery stores. I do think people can and should do better show some pride and clean up where they live.

There are some residential streets in Camden where the row homes have front porches. The owners have these cage-like bars over the porches, to prevent break ins, etc. These homes have bars are on the windows, doors and a cage covering over the front porch. I feel bad for people who have to live in these homes.

Leaders don't think big enough. Buy out the buildings (if you can call them that) and tear every single one of them down and recycle the concrete. Sell the entire area but compensate the residents with new basic townhouses in a section outside of the business district.

I have a good friend in Phoenix that’s a minister from here, he told me how it is, but I still didn’t grasp how bad it actually is. I’m not going to complain about Phoenix after watching this. Blessings to you as always for keeping us in the know.

I see thats a so called minority town. um ya sad disparity The largest Camden racial/ethnic groups are Hispanic (52. 8%) followed by Black (39. 3%) and White (4. 1%. well good news is the repukes got the house now all of usa will look like this

You have to wonder where the city council tax money went, it clearly was not used for the basic maintenance of the city it takes decades to run a place down so badly that the whole city needs raising to the ground and rebuilding.
reply

A lot of the investment in Camden, like the subaru headquarters, are put in parts of Camden that are inaccessible to the residents. They're in Camden, but all the employees live in Cherry Hill and the surrounding suburbs

Born and raised in north Philly and I remember when every mischief night that whole side of the river would burn it was insane and it went on like that for years I think the only reason it stopped is nothing else to burn.

I understand but did have to laugh
i normally get out & walk around, but sorry guys I'm not doing it in this one

I think of the big money to build Campbell field near the bridge for big money and again big money to make a field sad. Same thing with the prison for state inmates sad. Yours truly Evans w Robinson ret sgt

I'm from the UK and would never expect to see this in the US, really depressing. I've never understood why people feel the need to litter their own streets, so disrespectful. We get it here too in places.
reply

Your making it seem like it’s so horrible, I got family that live there, it’s cheap all u gotta do is mind your own business and yes it’s dirty but that’s Camden I hate how your being so judgmental.
reply

In videos of trashy cities, you still see nice cars everywhere. And people park among the trash and around dilapidated buildings. Care about the community ceases to become personal like your own car.
reply

What’s the outcome of this video What are you prepared to do for change Or are you just driving around like it’s a safari Regardless how bad you think it is, it’s still a home to people.
reply

Root causes. Great migration north, 1954 Housing Act, Johnson's Great Society, 1935 Welfare Act all converging together to decimate Northern and Mid Western urban industrial cities.

this looks like the louvre compared to mayor areas of Los Angeles aka Shitangeles! Talking about Venice Beach, Playa del Rey, Mar Vista. not about downtown or south central.

I can't understand what was so awful at 3: 17. I'm sorry, but I didn't see anything, any more awful than what I'd seen on the entire video. Did I miss something
reply

drive just 15 to 20 minutes away and you are in the affluent towns of Cherry Hill and Moorestown with average median homes prices over $400, 00 to $1 Million plus!
reply

I live in jersey, do not go to Camden it is not a good place. unless you want to have your car stolen for insurance purposes, then it's great
reply

Dude, in the beginning after the waterfront, you were on Karl Miller and Broadway was the cross street, the street sign was to the right of you lol
reply

Have you seen Philadelphia
It's pretty much like Camden.
Immigrants should see those videos, they believe America is the golden dream.

reply

American jails are overflowing. Why not pay the prisoners a few dollars an hour to pick up the trash. There would be lots of volunteers.
reply

The unions priced themselves out of work. You could see it coming in the seventies. Always demanding more pay and more benefits.
