ALABAMA: Towns Where People Live On $300 Weekly - How Poor Are They NAFTA killed the small town. Businesses in search of more profits, moved to countries where the wages are low like China and Mexico. It’s a pity we can’t reverse NAFTA and bring businesses and manufacturing back to the US. We have too many products that are vital to our country ( the military and medications) that are made in China. What happens if China ( who is not our friend) decided to impose sanctions on us
I am in favor of putting America and Americans first. before foriegn aid to other countries, before greedy billionaires with their greed for ever increasing profits.

It doesn't look bad at all. It looks pretty nice considering how poor everyone is there. It just reminds me of every small town I've seen in the Midwest. It's not so bad to live in those cheap, rural places like it used to be. With the internet, online shopping and such. You're not so isolated out in the middle of the country, or in these more rural areas. You have social media, cell phones and such. You aren't Stuck in the middle of nowhere, missing out on what everyone else gets living near the cities or the coast.

Mr. Man those universal communities We’re built many decades ago. By our fathers and four fathers and mothers and grandmothers. They are the ones who worked in built those homes! It makes no sense to compare today to what those neighborhoods look like today, this was done many decades ago. And yes people can live on three to $400 a week, so I really don’t understand the process for this video it makes no sense or relevancy. Please redo and resubmit

I love these videos. cheap way to see America from my couch. I have been to Alabama and Ohio in very rural areas and just love knowing the history of our country and the many families that lived during those times when the world was much younger. new generations come along and want to explore and go other places to live due to economics/weather conditions, etc. nice to see not everyone wants to leave. thanks for these videos.

I take about that much home ( paid bi- weekly. . It's just barely enough to keep utilities paid, buy gas for transportation to & from work and maybe $25 worth of groceries every other week. Just enough not to qualify for foodstamps since they think I live off my GROSS income. I'm a step from being homeless every payday. I'm in Montgomery & a college graduate.

Me, my husband and 2 kids live on $2350 monthly in rural areas in NC. That's a $145 weekly per person. We are not rich but happy. So when the hard time comes we are not going to feel it. Because we get used to growing vegetables and fruits, backing our own bread, etc. But I'm worried about the people that live in big cities. What are they going to do

I live in north Arkansas. I live on $1700 month and save from that by living below my means which helps me save for the travels I enjoy.
I’ve been debt free for many years. I only shop when I need something.
My maternal grandparents were from north west Alabama. In 1926 or 1927 they moved to south Arkansas for farming jobs.

Hi, i am from the Netherlands and much like the video’s you made
Touring through decaying’ vilages in America guided by pretty voiced touroperator.
I am very much surprised to see the vast number of decayed towns
Incredible actually, comparing to my country, small and overcrowded, There’s plenty of space out there

I wonder how people get their groceries here. I did not see any stores besides dollar tree and dollar general. It would be sad if that is all that people had. I really wish that more money was put into these old towns because you could tell they were very picturesque at one point. It would be like stepping into old America.

I believe that people who actually live in thise places love to live that way. No demands, no push or pull in any direction, don't have to or don't want to get up at 5 am every day, no pressure because if they didn't like it at way they would do anything to make it better. Everyone is the master of their faith.

I like your comments when you drive into areas that are new to you. I can relate because that's pretty much what I would say or think if it were me. Always informative and respectful of smaller towns that are trying to turn things around. ThanX for sharing your adventures.

Come on you're not concerned about these people. by 2025 you and your investors will have paid these people pennies and put up golf courses and Mansions. If these people like the way they're living why use poverty as a justifaction for STEALING their property.

Folks who never do any more than they get paid for, never get paid for any more than they do!
I make more in a month than these average do in a year. Lazy socialism is taking over!
You can find anything you lose, except waisted time!

I live in northern Alabama, in the Huntsville area. And if you are disabled ( you have to show proof) then you do not pay property tax on your home that you live in. It has to be your primary dwelling. That is so awesome for older folks.

I know this may sound crazy but to me there is something so poignant and beautiful about the decay of these homes and businesses. once upon a time there was a way of life and just like us time takes it's toll.

25: 50 i actually use to go to school in Five Points. That used to be an old fruit and vegetable stand. If you turned right, right before that store, the elementary school was down that road.

21. 30. This is a prison. If I was to guess one of the town's top employers. Actually a jail, but still likely disproportionately filled to the financial benefit of the local employees.

When you think about it. If the houses are 1/4 the median of the USA, the income being 23k is actually fairly reasonable in anal ce at $92k. Their house payments must be $300 a month
reply

Wow there is no Best Buy, Target, or Raley’s or In and Out Burger place in this town and all those abandoned houses looks like there is tons of Paranormal inside the house
reply

With so low population, no services, it might cost a fortune for residents to drive to the nearest city supermarket to buy something, to drive somewhere far enough to find a job.
reply

They live on 300 a week Wow that's not bad. In Canada a disabled person gets 12, 000 per year and cost of rent is more than that alone. So there's always someone worse off

Our electric bill every month is over $500. 00 Not counting water bill, insurance, mortgage ect. I have met people living in rooms and paying $900. 00 - $1000. 00 a month!
reply

I make abou $1, 200 and can’t live on that with rent and power bills. Unless I go on government assistance and that would not be living within my means but getting help.

Lol at 10% black dolls, made nine white dolls for each single doll with melanin. It’s screaming included but exclude them. And we should be flattered No

Plot twist, the people with the large homes own the towns - passed down generations while maintainingmaximizing their wealth & draining the town dry.

33: 56 that is the old hospital. Off to the left of it, there was something that looked like a giant house which was actually the old mortuary.

You are totally out of touch with reality. Do you have any idea what senior citizens live on I have a neighbor a few doors down she gets $700 a month

The people that live there work in Auburn and Opelika. It’s only about 15 miles away. Opelika is one of the fastest growing cities in Alabama.
