The division wasn't because of the Cold War, it was a thing that stemmed from the 2nd World War and then the situation worsened during Cold War times, East Germany wanted to keep the people from fleeing to West Germany, because West Germany was a more westernized, democratic country. Germany was divided into 4 sections at first, into a Russian, British, French, American parts. Then those merged into 2 sections then divided by the wall.

I was fortunate to have lived in Berlin (Zehlendorf) for three years and traveled to East Berlin many times. The entire city was amazing even though the Wall was dividing the city at that time. We were there from 1986 thru 1989. The Christmas Markets were the best in both West and East parts of the city and the history and culture of Germany and Berlin itself is amazing. GO THERE IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN.

Oh my god guys the thumbnail I've only been once in Berlin and I took one picture of the wall and it was at this exact same place The blue wave of sad faces stuck between two walls I found it beautiful. sorry, not my mothertongueI'm living in Berlin my whole life and it's crazy how different tourists see the city compared to us Berliner Where I live it's very green and calm, so the opposite to the shown places in your video and most of them I never visited. But nevertheless great videos guys, especially the historical part was well explained: )

I've been to Berlin thrice now, and still the the city doesnt bore me. I didn't discover how the nightlife actually. Have you been to cool disco's while you were staying there? And do you have any recommendations for me?
