Sorry boys, who ever told you about Buddha is totally wrong. before he attained Buddha hood he was known as Prince Siddhartha, and he was not a Hindu, he was a Sramana belong to a movement that existed alongside the Vedic system before 2600 years ago in India ( Sramana was a living system with high moral values and the Vedic system some call it a religion, was the historical predecessor of modern Hinduism ). also Tibetans believe in Mahayana and Tantric and it was formed in the 8th century AD, where as Sri Lanka officially became a Buddhist country around the 3rd century BCE and have finally accepted 'Teravada' practice. The temple that you visited in Colombo. mmmmm. let's say it's a sort of a show piece and that's not really the traditional type of a Buddhist temple that you will find in Sri Lanka. Most Buddhist temples have Hindu gods because Buddhist people in Sri Lanka worship Hindu gods as well, this was again during the reigns of various Kings/ Queens some of whom were Hindu Kings from India and they built Hindu worship areas within the temple compounds, and over a period of time the locals have come to accept it and now most Buddhists in Sri Lanka also worship Buddha and Hindu gods mainly due to lack of understanding of the teachings of Buddha. Finally you must understand that Buddha never had a religion and his teaching was a scientific system that can be applied through practice into your daily life and it was not to be used as a religion although it ended up as a religion after he passed away. A religion is something that you get attached/ belong to, and in his teaching you must detach from everything in order to attain Nirvana. What he discovered was that there is no 'I' or 'Me' and that everything in this universe can break down to atomic particles, finally nothing but 'Emptiness'. Since you boys are helping to promote our tourism and our country, and our culture is based on the values of the teachings of Buddha, as well as Hinduism, I thought of just giving you this information to enhance your knowledge. Good luck with your future travel and enjoy Sri Lanka

What typical, suck up, PC, sjws. I'm Sri Lankan, Singhalese. If you have actual values, which aren't relative and fake, you don't respect everything you come across in every country, arbitrarily, whether in deserves respect or not, just to be PC. It really says a lot about you. The Buddhism in SL, has virtually nothing to do with real Buddhism. It's just been turned into another political, religious cult, used to restrict, Brainwash, and control the ignorant, and to amass power. Anyone who's actually read and studied the Pali Canon, and the history of Buddhism, knows this. In SL, it's just text book called psychology. And one of the biggest Red Flags in identifying a mind controlling cult. is if it has an Immature, Unnatural, Negative, full of Shame, aversion to the human body, and promotes the idea that the human body is inherently Disrespectful, especially a woman's body. What a disappointment, to see such young people, who should be educated. completely oblivious to all of this. The result of PC, sjw fashion. (The Buddhism in SL, is so superficial and fake, that they don't even respect Siddhartha Gautama's last two, dying wishes; When I die, please do not build statues to me, and do not worship me, for i will no longer exist. so what did my idiot people do. they built thousands of statues of him, all across the country, and they worship him and pray to him. Actual Buddhism is an ideology, not a religion. It is: Atheist, scientific, Non-Vegetarian, does not accept the supernatural, and is Pacifist) But you guys keep traveling the world and arbitrarily respecting every type of behavior you come across, as long as it has the word religion, attached to it.

I am so sorry I have stop watching at 2: 00 mins and writing this. You need to do more research if u want to talk about a countys religious. Do u have proof for saying Buddha is the the natives? Saivasim now called Hinduism is the ancient religion in srilanka. Ravanas temple and palaces are more older than 1 500 years old buddhazim and his dome. Ravana is a Sivans devote. Ravana is a Tamil king who had a golden age in Srilanka with Tamils and SIngala people together. You also talked about Auvadic message and more. Yoga and aduvadic everything came from saivasim with is Hinduism now. Budha never lived in srilanka, Ravana lived in srilanka. Budha never came to srilanka in his life at all. Please prove me if I am wrong.

This is the TRUEST vlog about my country that I've watched so far Thank you very much TOUCHED by the way you present it. Because still there are much famous yet so dumb vloggers who present facts about Sri Lanka in offensive manners without truly knowing the practices, values and virtues of the Sri Lankan culture and sub-cultures exist in it. But you put it in a more GENUINE way. Sri Lankan people are religious/righteous people whatever their religion is because all of them co-exist mainly within a Buddhist culture (and we all are influenced by authentic -Theravada- Buddhist virtues. However with negative Western influences throughout the history to present, we can't make sure how long it'll last.

Greetings from Colorado Our family is headed to India this year and intially we were going to end our trip in Maldives but quite honestly your video of Sri Lanka has inspired us to change our plans and finish our trip in Sri Lanka. We need to maximize our time and one of the highlights would be to visit the spice garden you visited where you harvested the spices to make the most incredible fresh curry with okra. In my research there are so many spice gardens. What was the name of the spice garden the three of you visited? Thank you and keep exploring keep inspiring

50 a day for budget travellers? That's a lot of surplus cash. We spent 7 - 8 per day in total during our 3-month Sri Lanka adventure. Double rooms with attached bathrooms we normally paid 1, 000 LKR a night (5. 80, food never cost us more than 4 a day, and transport was dirt cheap on local buses. If you think about it logically Sri Lanka has to be much cheaper to travel than Europe, and Europe can be done a budget of 15 Euro or less per day, so it makes no sense that Sri Lanka would cost 50 a day.

200 per day for a driver? You were ripped off my friends We travelled wherever we wanted to go & most drivers were happy with around 50 - 70 per day after a bit of haggling. Sri Lankans love haggling; my wife liked a silver & aquamarine necklace priced in a jewellers at 150. After 30 minutes haggling we walked away. The shop owner literally chased us down the street begging her to buy it for 60 (which she did. 10 minute ride in a tuk tuk =, asking price 500LKR, actual price 300LKR (about 1. 50)

Stumbled on this while perusing travel clips. Nice job. However, many of the video shots of the hosts and girlfriend (either reacting to things or simply walking) make these people look like they are in a slick, polished trailer for a movie. very majestic and epic looking, almost a slow-mo feel, with perfect lighting/composition. I guess kudos to the photographer for those moments, even though I wanted more views of the scenery. :)

Tourist PLEAEE do not encourage the Buddhists to unleash its ruthless discrimination, genocide, and crime against humanity against its minorities just like the Myanmar. Please visit the North and East where these atrocities are taking place. The Sri Lankan restricted access for media and tourists to travel these locations as their truth will be revealed. War without witness, ethnic cleansing are taking place. Thank you.
