FUN FACT: Model X with third row DOES qualify for the full tax credit as long as you buy the 8K FSD package.
Long story short Tesla lets you pick any seating configuration free of charge as long as you buy FSD with the Model X. This means a 3 row Model X qualifies for the tax credit because the 8K FSD is all software and doesn't get factored into the 80K price cap. In other words even though a Model X FSD 7 seater costs 88K, the government sees it as a 80K vehicle and this qualifies for the tax credit.
Basically you can get a 6 seater Model X with FSD for 88K which is a great deal. Teslas latest updates on autopilot and FSD are quite impressive and usable

I don't think Volvo had any intention of making new hybrid cars. They were all-in on electric vehicles and all they're doing is refreshing the current XC90. There is no new XC90 coming out that I know of. Volvo was over-zealous about going all-in on BEVs.
The Polestar 3 has been available to drive for a while now. And yet, this is another walkthrough. At this point, there's nothing new to learn. How does it drive We still don't have Volvo providing EX90s to drive and it's almost September of 2024. That's not good.

Does the tire pressure monitor tell you want the PSI is or just a green check mark
Why can't you tell me my tire pressure in my Tire Pressure monitor, Volvo!
Here's idea maybe Volvo can reinvent the wheel. So they can distinguish themselves from every other car manufacture. While simultaneously irritating their customers.
Unless the world ends I'm trading my Volvo XC60 recharge for a BMW X5 50e. Im just annoyed!
Anyways, nice review as always.

I have two gripes:
1. That’s a big enough infotainment screen that it should display the backup camera simultaneously with the 360 view. This drove me crazy on my wife’s XC90
2. Why do mainstream manufacturers with great gauge clusters in their ICE vehicles think that consumers paying more for an EV want a smaller gauge cluster!

Why is a sunroof that large necessary I don't understand the benefit of sunroofs period because I live in an area that is very prone to hailstorms and it's pretty hard to find a new vehicle these days where have the option to not have a sunroof. It's infuriating. Also Volvo interiors have become arguably the most boring of any brand.

The exterior design is very clean and handsome, and the proportions look about perfect. Kudos to Volvo for not creating a blob. Unfortunately, the refreshing design makes the lidar bump stand out that much more. The bump reminds me of the third brake light on the 1986 Camaro and Firebird, which mercifully lasted only one year.

To me this car is a Chinese design compromise: the price is higher vs Kia EV9 for comparable features and quality. For the genuine adult usable third row of seats the real solution is Cadillac IQ EV and upcoming Chevrolet/GMC versions. Besides those GM vehicles have superior charging, range, towing capabilities.

Very handsome, inside and out. The not-long wheelbase and traditional proportions look very ICE, but the sensor array above the windshield is unnecessarily clunky-looking. I would love one of these, but the mandatory unshaded glass roof is a likely disqualifier for me and many others in the Sun Belt.

It's so cramped inside - almost claustrophobic. I'm guessing most of space is wasted under that long empty hood that has laughable tiny storage lol. Most boring interior and glitchy software. lack of options. I mean was Volvo intentionally trying to design a worst EV.

These blanked off grill designs are going to age so poorly. You can't make the absence of design a feature. One of the main things Tesla struggles with as well. The front end needs to be perfect, it is the center of the show for the exterior.

A buggy UI with a promise of fixes. Hard no. Don’t buy anything that it doesn’t come with day one.
Also, you talk about the glass roof as if it’s a negative to structure. A glass roof is stronger than a piece of sheet metal.

KIA EV9 is better as far as a 3 rd SUV. R1S is better value for $90k. The Volvo is basically a 2 Row SUV with a faux 3rd, unusable, row. So get any of the EV Crossovers/SUV for under $60k. This is DOA except for Volvo Fans.

You can get the lane information and other cars moving along, very trendy today - indeed it is. It also is a completely pointless waste of display real estate. Other than that I don't hate it but it doesn't rock my socks either.

510 HP doing 0-60 in 4. 7 and 402 doing 0-60 in 5. 7. It makes me wonder if the HP number is just adding peak output from both motors but not the actual real work peak HP. I think that’s how Volvo rate the T8s

The XC90 remains IMO the best looking SUV in its class. Volvo did a great job here as well with the EX90, looks like a proper evolution of the current version. I still would love a normal grille tho.

All I can think of after seeing this is that the Kia EV9 dosen’t have much to worry about and the Hyundai Ioniq9 is about to drop at the upcoming LA auto show with a release date of July 2025

The modern interpretation of hidden headlamps looks great. Nicely executed, Volvo! It'll take me a while to find the rest of the exterior as lovely as the current flagship
XC90 though.

For the wait and delay and the price point, this is disappointing. And they are really missing the opportunity to win against low competition in the true usable 3 row space.

No Android Auto, no buy. I'm not paying Volvo for some overpriced monthly subscription to use the same tools I have available on my phone. Anti-consumer nonsense.

$80k and they drop the assist handles over the doors. Many manufacturers are dropping them, essentially saying they are ignoring the disabled and elderly customers.
