The 2024 Acura TLX Is A Mild Tweak To A Solid Value

The 2024 TLX is barely a refresh to be honest. Some European car companies wouldn't have even mentioned a re-styled grille and bigger LCD, but that doesn't mean you should overlook Acura's refinements. For 2024 the TLX focuses on Acura's core repeat shoppers as well as streamlining inventory for dealers and customers alike. With sedan sales sliding we should be thankful Acura is still dedicated to their midsize/compact flagship, but that size confusion continues to be the TLX's achilles heel. It's 5-Series sized on the outside, but smaller than the Integra in some dimensions inside. So what it is It's the reliable and fun to drive value alternative to the S60, A4, 3-Series and C-Class, and that's just fine. Alex, Sharpening their knives It looks like the lower bumper will do the job for Acura. To Acura/Honda's credit, this is a rare example in their corporate portfolio where interior space efficiency has been completely chucked out the window. Did they mistakenly hire some of Toyota's TNGA team to design the TLX

Why won’t Infiniti just do this for the Q50 Such a shame. It needs the Z’s gauge cluster and transmission, the QX60’s dash and infotainment, and the maxima’s vented seat function, rear heated seat function, and pano sunroof. All are things in the Nissan parts bin that would keep the Q50 competitive in today’s market, as I think it’s still a very good looking car (esp 2018. All are things they could’ve added at launch of the Q50 back in 2014 or whatever. And most certainly they are all things that they could’ve added during at least one of the 10 model years that the car has existed in its same form. Sad as hell that it’s not even rated in these comparisons anymore

I cross-shopped the TLX Type-S, G70, S60 Recharge, and Q50. Bought the 2023 Type-S in late September and am delighted with it. It takes a little time to get used to the goofy trackpad, but now it's second nature. Fuel economy is directly proportional to driving style, but 25 mpg is my average with mostly local driving. Saw 30 mpg on long highway trip.

They wanted a rear drive stance with a transverse front engine. The weight distribution is front wheel drive. Interior space is a compact.
The engine compartment with the 4 cylinder looks like peanut in a suitcase, 3 ft of empty space from bumper to engine. Acura is selling a lot of empty space.

I do like this gen TLX but more attractive than the current gen IS Come on Alex, no way. this looks frumpy, tall and IMO a bit pretentious by making it appear more RWD. current gen IS is arguably best looking sedan, compact or not, on the market right now.

Honestly this 3. 0T makes less hp, has slower 0-60, and burns more fuel vs all German 3. 0T models
You can’t put reliability’ above everything, especially now we’re seeing massive head gasket blowoff of Honda 1. 5T

I feel like Acura and Mazda are the reliable sporty vehicle makers. If so, then Mazda should also bring back the MazdaSpeed versions of their vehicles to put more Zoom-Zoom in their line-up.

Test drove one a while back. Infotainment setup is a deal breaker for me. Also, a front wheel drive based performance sedan is a joke. Looking at you Audi as well. Nose heavy handling.

Nice to hear the comparison to the Volvo S60, but it seems the G70, which I believe is the direct competitor for buyers like myself, continues to be missed.

Wish they would drop this power train into the RDX. I have a 20' and am dissapointed in it ecspecially considering previous Acura/Honda models I have owned.
