2025 Nissan Murano Review - Is This Once Again A Lexus RX Fighter

In all seriousness there was a time when the media praised the Murano for being a value alternative to Lexus' most popular SUV, the vaunted Lexus RX. My how times have changed. The last two generations of Murano have been a bit funky, a bit chunky, and much, much less premium than that RX. This Murano It's a modern interpretation of the same formula that created the very first Nissan Crossover. Yep, Murano is back! With some caveats of course. It's still not a direct RX competitor, think of it as the same recipe with less expensive ingredients. Also, although Nissan says it's sportier than ever, well, it isn't. The 0-60 time of 6. 8 seconds is fine, the handling scores are solid, but it's not going to convince anyone to give up their Acura.

So many negative comments. Most of you have never owned a Nissan or Infiniti. I'm on my 11th nissan vehicle 2 Sentras, 2 Altimas, 2 Maximas, 2 Muranos and i currently own a 2017 Pathfinder a 2014 q50 and a 2019 qx50, I've had zero issues other than the scheduled things that you are supposed to do with every car. As for the transmission issues with the cvt, there hasn't been any. Do your scheduled maintenance and there should be no issues. I actually gave my 07 Murano to a friend and it's still running with no issue. That car has over 400, 000 kms on it. Companies and people in general go through rough patches, give them a chance to recover, they've been killing it lately with their design and products. Stop cheering for their demise. The people who build the cars have families to take care of. The 2. 0 VC turbo is in my QX50 and is very good, it's been 5 years with zero issues. I think alot of people just jump to the comment section because they don't like a brand or off what these auto journalists say without testing the cars themselves. Do your research yourself.

If Nissan doesn't want to go bankrupt in 12 months, making their cars more expensive isn't the way, especially when you consider the inevitable dealership markup that Nissan stealerships place. Many Nissan dealers are pretty toxic. All the ones in my city were pretty bad. The only good half decent offers about 1000 miles away. Or Colorado.
They make good cars. But their dealer network is trash. Even on 400Zs that had been lot rotting for 300 days, they still had about 10k-15k markup.

I have to say, Nissan kinda knocked this out of the park, Im not too sure on the front end but the rear, and interior looks pretty awesome. I am happy to see that they are using a variety of colors instead of just a sea of grey/black that you find in most german competitors. The Crown Signia, might be a better pick for some people due to the hybrid system, which produces about the same power but with significantly better fuel economy, the Murano is still a very good choice tho

This is a positive move for Nissan, I, like others am glad that they did away with the cvt. (Now they have to remove it from all of their cars etc) now Nissan needs to add both a hybrid with better fuel economy and possibly a plug-in hybrid and a true SR trim. that SR would need to have a better sport tune suspension, more power and a few more standard options.

Those ugly black wheels and blackout packages don't do this vehicle any favors. Is the 9-speed automatic transmission of the ZF German POS Chrysler, Range Rover, and Honda used at one time, and still used in the Chrysler Pacifica I will take imitation leather interior to real leather any day considering imitation leather doesn't crack.

I was interested until the VC engine. I am not inherently opposed to 4-cylinder turbos, but the VC is kind of legendary for its problems. Are there any naturally-aspirated V6's left in this class I think you need to go up a size class to Pathfinder, Telluride, Grand Cherokee, etc. to get a V6.

I've always been a fan of the Murano I bought the 1st gen. model. But this one I'm not liking. I don't like the look, wheels, price, engine choice, nor the lack of power. It doesn't look sporty anymore. It looks like a gasoline powered EV. I do like the transmission change though.

The perfect car for real estate agents.
Given the news with the Murano, QX60, and the massive Honda/Acura engine recall, please God don't let Nissan ditch the NA V6 in the Pathfinder. I hate turbocharged engines because they're always money pits and NA V6s are a rare breed now.

Nissan is making the effort that should have been made like 10-15 years ago.
Front looks like abandoned Lexus design from last decade and added Hyundai Tucsonnot really attractive.
The rear looks good.
Nissan reliability is train to be seen.
23 MPG is a bad news

too late, Nissan is on its last legs. work at the auto auction, we cant give Nissan crap away. everyone has CVT issues well under 100k miles. theyve ruined their own reputation. now we are starting to see the VC turbo engines coming in with knocking noise and oil leaks.

I used to be a borderline Nissan fanboy back in the day. Now, if someone gave me one for free, I'd sell it and use the money to buy something else. Nissan corporate management has been a total dumpster fire, and it's a real shame what has become of the company.

I don’t understand the comparison to the Lexus RX. Isn’t this a Ford Edge, Chevy Blazer, Honda Passport, Toyota 4Runner, ect competitor Comparing it to stuff in the luxury segment it is a bargain, but comparing it to stuff in the mainstream its just average.

So one thing that is really puzzling about this brand new Murano. It only has the 1. 1 hands on Pro Pilot assist. The New 25 Rogue has the new 2. 1 hands off Pro Pilot assist. Come on Nissan. Maybe it was just price points but strange, non the less!

My mom had an 1st gen 07' Murano as her work/errand car and it worked well until the CVT died 190k miles later in 2016.
She has since moved on to the Lexus RX, but I'm assure she'd give this an approving glance as long as she saw it from behind.

For those that don’t like the 4 cylinder tubo 9-speed automatic transmission, try the all new Pathfinder V6 9-speed automatic transmission, it’s really nice. I own a 2021 Toyota RAV4 and also own a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder SL Premium and we love it.

Look of the HVAC Beautiful. Execution of the HVAC Awful. No quality haptic feedback, yet the entire panel will push down on your inputs. At least it was that way on my Ariya. This Murano looks very well executed overall.

Nissan is a lesson no one should forget, they are at the stage of too little too late. People have been for years to get rid of that bad transmission - hopefully they will listen now as they are on the verge of bankruptcy.

Not a fan of the spaceship looks. The Hyundai front lights. The lack of headroom with sunroof. The dash that creeps over the screens. No more V6. The tall 1 foot wide center tunnel that separates you from your spouse. ect.

They did a great job
Rest in Peace RX. Nissan managed to make a better Lexus with better style inside and out, better tech, more features, more room, more trunk space, and better performance for the dollar

Nissan got rid of their garbage CVT just to have a garbage and super flawed turbo engine. Look online repairs left and right, dealers are back ordered in parts due to so many being in repairs
