The tweener sub-category of midsize crossovers (190 in length given an inch or two) continues to grow. Its an appealing choice for customers who want a Goldilocks size, larger than a compact and smaller than larger midsize alternatives. With the addition of the Blazer all the major mainstream manufacturers except Toyota and Mazda have vehicles in the category. All but the Hyundai Santa Fe offer standard or optional V6 engines and all but the KIA Sorento are two row configurations. All in all most manufacturers seem to be singing very similar tunes. Within the category there are significant differences in terms of a balance between on-road and off-road capabilities. The Blazer appears to be aimed toward the on-road end of the scale with vehicles like (some versions of) the Jeep Grand Cherokee at the off-road capable end. None of them have much appeal for dedicated off-roaders but rock climbing isnt the point. I suspect it will sell relatively well but the more capable AWD and somewhat larger interior space of the Pilot may give it an edge. Chevy will counter with more adventurous trim options. It will be interesting to see how the various models shake out.

Car interior space and cargo space are 2 of the trickiest arts in all its engineering. Subaru Forester and Toyota RAV-4, both much shorter and narrower vehicles than this Blazer still offer better rear seat head room, almost equal leg room and both those have much larger cargo room. Oh, and most importantly, they both are either equally or even better off road capable than this Blazer. So? Dont even start me on comparing it to Passport, Edge or Santa Fe, all being shorter (lesser length) than Blazer and all of them having better passengers room and cargo space.

The interior on this I think is better looking than the Pass Port. And I like having a lever shifter. However I find the ideal of being able to do some light off roading with the Pass Port interesting. I also like the storage bins like the Pass Port has. They should have put at least a little bit of off road ability into this thing. I also dont think its deserving of carrying the Blazer name. If they were gonna make it a cross over instead of an SUV they should have given it a different name.

Its amazing to me, that with all these mid-sized SUVs and CrossOvers, NONE of them have the interior room in the front and back seats as the Kia Soul The Kia Soul is considered a COMPACT CAR, and yet is far roomier inside than these vehicles I see these reviews, and see how little room, for both knees and heads in the front and back seats And these vehicles are FAR more expensive than the Soul And none of them have the Souls unique quirky looks, either

I thought the Blazer would compete with CHR and CRV and have the same low 20, 000 price range. A base model Blazer starts at over 30, 000 Even a base model 2019 RAV4 is cheaper. The Blazer doesnt come standard with safety features like Lane Departure, pedestrian detection etc. Its optional equipment unlike Toyota where its standard on all models. You can see all the cheap GM plastics. There are way better options out there than this confused crossover.

Saw this at the Detroit Auto Show. I was impressed, it looks very, very good in person. Im a fan of the split headlight design that we see on this, the and the upcoming Hyundai Palisade and new Kia Soul. The chrome treatment up front is interesting too as its much more integrated into the form of the vehicle instead of a shiny ornamental garnish were used to seeing. The small color-banded bits on the seats and dash are tasteful too.

Ive owned three Blazers, 72, 82, 85. This is NOT a Blazer. It is a big Equinox to compete with Lexus. Yes its beautiful, comfy, stylish, but GM really missed the mark. They already have the Equinox and Travers to compete in that market. They should have built a REAL Blazer with Independent 4 wheel suspension, lockers and even airbag coils for adjusting clearance. They could have blown the On/Off road crowd out of the water.

No chance in hell would I buy that reason number 1 its made in Mexico you have to pay an import fee 2 its got a 9-speed Chevy transmission that has all sorts of problems 3 way overpriced 4 I can buy a 2019 Ford Explorer its bigger better and more reliable and I can get most if not all the options for about 39, 000 and the Explorer is made in the USA and some are made in Canada no import fees from Mexico

This is nothing personal against your reviews. You do a great job This is a Hyundai. They should HAVE NEVER called this a blazer. They should have made this car to replace the traverse and brought out a BLAZER to compete with the Ford Bronco and made it a BOX retro. TOTAL FAIL Total miss here for Chevrolet to enter the Jeep/Bronco segment with a BIG name thats recognized. SHAMEFUL

It overpriced IMO. Forget discounts when its 5k more than base competitors. Take the Santa Fe you mention, SE 24. 2k, SEL 25. 8K, SEL plus 28. 1k, Limited 30. 1k etc. Li tied trim is nearly base price Blazer. Not to mention the better build quality (JD Power) higher predicted reliability (CR) and a better warranty. I get the Blazer name plate history. I just dont think its worth 5k.
