It looks very large with you standing next to it. It amazes me how large it looks, but really it doesnt have a large back seat and it has lost truck space. Totally insane. So, here is a well known German manufacturer and they are making a car that is actually a mess. Hopefully the cargo ship full of this model will sink off the coast, but will all hands saved, so that BMW can make some money off these, via insurance. Also, if I was BMW dealer I might want to start serving alcohol at the dealership so they can get potential buyers so drunk they will end up purchasing such a vehicle. I just watched a video of a car mechanic working on a 6 year old BMW. That was also an eye opener. The design of the engine was so poor that just to repair the alternator was as complicated as sending the space shuttle into space. German engineering = overly complex and truly expensive repairs, and this is when the car value has dropped so much that spending all that money just to do an alternator is questionable. Thanks for the review.

Here is some context on these performance SUVs. The E9x M3 ran to 60 in 4. 4 seconds and did the quarter mile in 12. 9 111, with city/highway FE at 14/20. The X3 M40i is as fast to 60, a hair slower through the quarter (13 107, and gets 18/25 FE. Grip/braking are tough because tires have come a long way in 10 years. Im sure at the limit the M3 will leave the X3 for dead, but who drives that hard on the street? Ive tracked performance cars and motorcycles. if you are going that hard on the street youre an asshole. I understand and share the preference for proper CARS, but honestly, for a responsibly driven street vehicle, something like this X5 with the 3 liter is a good all around package. You give up very little objectively; cars have become the emotional choice.

I have the 2018 X6. Its not meant to be a family car per say. Its just my mother and me when Im driving her around. I dont care about the back seat really. I love the car. There are of course a lot of cars out there with more than 300 hp but thats all I need. I rarely fall for the meat-head that wants to race me from a stop light but I did the other day and the Gs that pulled on me made me light headed. I actually got a little nervous. I may only have 300 HP but the twin turbo is no joke. I wont be doing that again.

less practical X5More like the much uglier X5Jeez who the hell would buy this thing its so. wrong. as you said its less practical and its trying too hard to look cool and sporty. but it isnt. people who want a stylish car wont go for an SUV. theyll get something like a CLS or an M6 which is somewhat stylish. and people who want a practical car will get an SUV or a wagon. this car just doesnt make sense. thats just my opinion people dont get mad at me but I just dont like it. Nice review BTW

so they took a car and raised it few inches and now its thousands of dollars more. yeah, typical of german marketing. and when it hits 100k miles, itll be pretty much worthless because nobody wants to spend 1000 or more everytime they take it in for service which will happen very often. uh, no thanks, been there done that. Will hold on to my old lexus that cost me less than 500 in repair in 5 years of ownership.

What an awful concept for a vehicle. SUV, but make it less practical. Call it a coupe even though a coupe is and always has been a two-door vehicle. Charge a fortune for it. It doesnt do coupe or SUV well, so whats the point? Pretty senseless if you ask me. The only worse thing I can think of is the Murano CrossCabriolet. Despite all that, great review Always thorough and full of facts, stats and logic.

Not sure what the purpose is for all these slopped roofline SUVs companies are coming out with. You could not even keep your head upright in the rear seat, something akin to the 3rd row in a large crossover. Simply not practicle. And the price, well thats not practicle either. Alex can you please test a new 2018 Mazda 6 Signature soon, since I am considering it as my next car.

An interesting concept, but. money would be better spent on a more usable concept. Rear window is useless, unless a Kenworth pulls up behind you; otherwise, its just the second segment of a panoroof. Its back end is just too jacked, like some bully gave it a wedgie. Victims unlucky enough to suffer the rear headroom, probably feel similar discomfort.

I really like it so much I bought one for my wife. really nice sport SUV. Way better looking than anything else out there. No wonder everyone else is trying to copy. How many people actually use their suv for what its meant to be? We get a lot of looks and double looks when we drive around town. Couldnt be much happier with our x6. sporty suv fun to drive.

Ugly inside and out, and a gas guzzler. High cost, low efficiency, and no real reason to exist or to own one other than to drive like an idiot. I remember the hi-tech company executive who made a huge profit on selling his company. To celebrate, he got into his super-hot car and accidentally killed himself by driving too fast on a winding road.
