This is the best luxury coupe one can buy when it comes to the overall package. Down the line there will be an LC F for those who want crazy faster and handling performance. Rumours of a twin turbo v8 in the works. In terms of luxury, attention to details, craftsmanship exterior and interior design and a balance of comfort and handling theres no luxury coupe in the 100-140k range better. The LC starts at 92k, the s class coupe starts at 110k or thereabouts and only gets far more expensive with options and Amg variants cause of different engines and performance driven numbers. But when it comes to design, luxury, craftsmanship and a balance of comfort and handling the LC 500 which is my preferred version not the hybrid is the better overall car compared to the s class coupe. I have seen the BMW 8 series side to side compared with the LC and the latter trumps completely. The LC is just the best overall package in this class if u r in search of a GT car not a sports car.

So the back seat is unusable. Then why keep trying to comparing to others that do have usable back seats? It goes head to head with a 400SL based on how often their tops get dropped and a V6 powered F type cant keep up till the supercharger gets pinched along with ones pocket book, plus the Lexus could leave both in the dust on a Palm Springs to San Diego run via 74/79, or Santa Barbara to Carmel via 1. FedEx the darn golf clubs and luggage. Why no mention of the Maserati Gran Turismo btw?

I love both cars but just wait until the LC-F with 600+ hp come out in a year or two and then do review on the Lexus LC-F as well: ) Right now, I think the MB has the best overall interior design and Lexus has the best digital cluster period and #1 reliability as well. And Lexus was the first brand to have the digital gauges on a production car on the Lexus LF-A.

i cant see anyone buying the LC 500h, its like when i saw the lexus LFA the only reason i noticed it was because it was parked in front of a resturant parked between a tricked out Nissan GTR and a red Ferrari and the first thing to mind was is that a new Lexus RC? then i figured out what it was and the light turned green and i left. these lexus cars are invisible

I agree. As a 2015 Mustang GT owner, I find the LC Hybrid quite enticing. Theres very little performance sacrificed for a better daily commuter. Contrary to most muscle car owners, I actually like a quiet V8 GT. The LCs rear seat & truck space is dismal though. Ford introduced the first V8 coupe in 1932. Lets see if Ford can make an affordablehybrid sports coupe.

One of the most overwrought car interiors Ive ever seen, and constricting as well. My claustrophobia kicks in. For a luxury brand, I think this is one of the tackiest interiors Ive ever seen. Awful. Shame, because the exterior looks somewhat interesting, especially the A pillar up front and the B (or is that C) pillar at the back.

I see this like buying the 4 cylinder mustang for more money than v8. The car maker normally charges more for the faster car. Flipping LC500 prices making v8 more expensive would give better profit margin, while if they sell more hybrids keeping their fleet mpg higher. It seems dumb to buy heavier, slower, 2 door car for more money.

So this doesnt have the second speed reduction planetary gear that Toyota hybrids now have? What is the advantage of adding a traditional transmission over the second planetary gear? It must be less reliable given the extra moving parts and the second planetary gear also allows all-electric operation at high speed.

Alex I would love to see this hybrid system in the all the other Lexus models. but I think with this technology it would been too expensive for lesser models (is, es. Instead, Lexus may go the fully electric path or hydrogen.

this Hybrid is 2/3 of the price of the V8 here in europe, because of emissions law, that only tax CO2 (petrol engines. So the noise is the only bad thing, switch to KN air filter and new exaust should resolve that problem.
