A Screaming Deal at 100k 2023 Genesis G90 Review

The 2023 Genesis G90 is Hyundai Motor Group's most luxurious vehicle ever, and its most expensive. Starting around 89k for a non electrically-boosted model, or just at 100k for the E-Supercharger model, this is actually a screaming deal when compared to the German competition. Genesis did a good job with the first-gen G90, but this time around they've pulled all the stops. It looks the part, feels the part, and drives the part, so long as you aren't looking for an AMG or M experience. This is an incredibly fancy car with pretty much every feature you could ever want, without the potential baggage of reliability and cost of ownership woes. TERRY: As usual Alex gives a great objective review. As a 11 years retired 31 year veteran Mercedes/Porsche Sales/Sale Manager & MB S Class owner the Genesis is so much more car for so much less. I bought my 2016 Hyundai Genesis H Trac sedan ( if it was a 2017 it would be a Genesis G80 ) 5 years ago & its been trouble free, so quiet & comfortable & economical to maintain. I will NEVER go back to a Mercedes. Currently on the look out for a newer used G80 or 90 that I would like but don't really need. I would also love this new G90 if I could justify the depreciation on any new luxury car.

I really do not understand how people can bring up the reliability canard with Hyundai-Kia products as a competitive advantage. Fires, blown engines, millions of cars recalled. Seriously? NO German engines catch fire or throw rods in 2 or 3 years of ownership. NONE. If you can afford 100K easily, you can afford 125K easily. Just get the Benz. Poor people cannot stretch to buy this at 89K and even if they could, it would not impress anyone in the Wal Mart parking lot anyway. If you want a car like this just get the real thing.

the sound the door makes when it closes. SHOTS FIRED!
Redline Reviews/Sofyan is not gonna like that! It MUST have the German solid thunk when it closes or it is poor quality. allegedly.
Of this Genesis, I like that there is no derivation in the design. It is purely a build over the previous-generation, just thoroughly modern. I liken it to a stealth wealth vehicle. There are quite a few wealthy folks that don't care about nameplate or ostentatious styling.

Good looking car that does have that quality finish. Strange that a top line luxury car does not have wireless integration. Regardless, its nice that Hyundai / Genesis is hungry and is cranking out some value. The wings on the dash is okay. Dealership experience might limit it sales. If Honda / Acura, Toyota / Lexus could've got away with that approach they would have but they didn't and for a good reason.

I absolutely love Genesis I mean I think their style and the design work is so aggressive they quickly make changes to their vehicles based on customer feedback I think they're better than Lexus in the Germans that would have you I would take one in a heartbeat my favorite is the gv80 absolutely beautiful SUV I'm hoping there will be a GV 90 one day I think they're on a roll

Alex, The mark of a truly successful luxury brand in 2023 is measured by their ability to sell shamelessly overpriced, derivative, front wheel drive rubbish without having to discount their genuine luxury models. When Genesis can sell a re-badged, 120 hp Accent for 37, 900, they will have truly claimed their place among the ranks of today's recognized luxury brands.

It's crazy car manufacturers can't improve nvh anymore without going ev. Plus how they skimp out on acoustic glass/ double pane glass.
The Lexus es V6 at over half the price scored 69db at 50mph.
From my recollection the prior quietest car was the kia k900 at 67. 5db.
Acura rlx scored 68. 5db at a demonstration event thanks to acoustic rear glass

The problem is if you have 1700 per month to pay for G90 lease, you have 1850 per month for an S class that gets you more prestige and better service. And if you re buying, S class has better resale value and again, you won t have to deal with a horrible Hyundai customer service. It seems like these will be a good deal in 3 years for 40k with low mileage.

I love this style G90. I think the new S Class lost a lot of it s exterior style. Too bad you can t get the huge discounts prior to Chip shortage. The depreciation is likely to be bad on this but a low mileage 2 or 3 year old model might be a lot more affordable. I fell in love with the G80 when it came out. I was so Happy Genesis found it s way.

Best Asian full size sedan period
I d rather give up the dealer experience to get the better quality luxury car. It s about the CAR not the BRAND
Alex, I d also add over the next 10 years genesis will move up rapidly and eventually Lexus will go down and eventually be completely out of business.

I bought a Genesis GV80 three months ago and could not be happier. Every time I compare it with neighbors' top trim Germans and Japanese I find the interior is far superior in the GV80 in terms of fit, finish, features and content. Paying more for the Germans or Japanese is just dumb.

Good review. I've driven a 2021 LS500 and a 2022 G90. G90 much better value and better ride (if you like road feel. I can't think of any Genesis model I wouldn't want to own when compared to a comparable Lexus. Genesis is today what Lexus was in the 1990s: Value.

From start to finish Alex dropping rational gems. As always great review. Hope other brands are watching Genesis. Lexus LS, always lacking modern technology. Benz S Class, fading away luxury with too much tech. BMW 7, Bangle Butt Pt 2. Audi A8, who cares.

I don't understand why everyone says this is good value. This is basically just a bigger G80. Compare price to G80. G90 ist still nowhere near BMW 7 and Mercedes S regarding even their base drivetrains and ride / handling balance.

As a chauffeur, it's a fail for me - the boot is too small. I don't care any more that it's not made in RHD, and thus, won't be available here in Australia. Currently have the Audi Q7, which I love.
