2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime - The RAV With A Plug

Today in LA Toyota released their PHEV RAV4, not exactly a surprise. What was a surprise however is that Toyota decided to make the 2021 RAV4 Prime their first Toyota branded performance hybrid delivering not just 39 miles of EV range but 302 horsepower and the best 0-60 time in the segment. This is courtesy of a new, high output lithium ion battery pack, higher motor voltages and some tweaked internals to the hybrid system. Sadly Toyota has kept plenty of the details for later, but we do know this will be one of the few affordable AWD plug in hybrids and one of the very few with a real spare tire in the trunk. Color me intrigued. lambodp: I feel like Toyota could have just put the V6 under the hood like they did many years back to get to that 300hp number. Only difference would be the gas mileage penalty and lack of e-AWD.

The Future Is Here
Should be about 35k to start, which is still under the average new car cost in America0-60 in 5. 8 seconds, or about 1. 5 seconds faster than a regular Rav4 Hybrid

They already have a 2019? The centre console screen is huge and ugly. I'm still surprised Toyota hasn't gone fully electric with their hybrids. Hyundai is miles ahead of them.

So are you telling me that the RAV4 Prime will beat the Camry XSE V6 and Avalon Touring because TFL car had said that the RAV4 Prime is the second fastest Toyota model
