I dont know whats with all the haters refusing to accept M3 is the best? M3 has been and still is the car that sets all the standards in small sport saloon segment, same as normal 3 series sets standard. BMW invented this car segment, no wonder M3 and M5 always win. It's always been the car that others tried to beat, but never manage to. Watch some Japanese car shows such as Best Motoring if you think this is biased, even they said M3 is better than IS-F in pretty much every single way.

Listen mate, you can hardly use -weight- as the explanation for why one car is slower than another in this example. -
Perhaps you don't fully understand how speed works, the M3 would beat the M5 to 40mph because of its lower weight, but like Hennerz2007 is saying, the extra 90bhp of the M5 would tear the M3 to shreds at speeds above 60mph when it can take full advantage of its superior V10 engine.

No it's not, Lexus is owned by Toyota, always has been. The brand was invented for the American market because the name Toyota wasn't associated with luxury cars then and there. The early models were badged Toyota in Japan and Lexus in the US. The latest IS is the first Lexus with no Toyota badged counterpart.

ok guys, simple reply. Nurburgring lap time for the BMW E92 M3 is 8: 05. the M5 E60 is 8: 13. i'm using the ring as a benchmark. simple weight is a massive time saver in sprints, handling, and stopping. this is really a silly argument, check the times! google isn't new you know.

If you choose to believe you're right you're more than welcome to do so, but I'm sorry, save the RX all Lexuses are designed, developed and built in Japan. The F in the IS-F model name stands for Fuji speedway, Toyota's test track. Nothing American about it.

Off Course the HOLDEN! wont cut it in this test. its lugging close to 200 kilos more than the rest and is a full size larger than all of the. It is a full sized family sedan whereas the competition are all mid-sizers with ruddy great engines plonked in!

um. weight? check lap times anywhere you wish, M3 owns the M5 everywhere i can think of. as this same vid showed bhp isn't the end all. C63 is highest bhp, but not the fastest or quickest. better example, lotus elise stomps on many cars with 2x the bhp.

bah, you're a 1/4 mile guy - i get it now.
this isn't only a 1/4 mile drag race btw, watch the vid. the 1/4 mile winner (merc) looses the competition!
anyway cheers mate, the m5 is a very excellent car - just not bmw's benchmark for performance.
