-tonicroatia I'm not convinced. Like I said our C170 was every bit as athletic as the european version, and as far as I know the Fiesta only gets tweaked power steering to compensate for all season tires. Mazda sells on a purely sporty ad campaign and their numbers are holding up very well. The Honda fit is right now I believe still the best selling sub compact we get, and it's the sharpest thing in the class by a mile. Sales wise there was never any basis for Ford to soften the car for us.

-suzukiaddress125 That has never happened and never will. There's a difference between responsive/agile, and twitchy/nervous. If a car is too responsive to the point of being twitchy it could be dangerous and might be taken off the market, but cars like that are never family hatchbacks. Usually dedicated track specials and the like that wouldn't have to worry about being the cause of a lawsuit. Ford had nothing to worry about, they just softened it for some unknown reason.

-kamakazisj Yeah, I understand you guys completely. It'll never again be as good as before. I personally think this has happened BECAUSE it's meant for both the european and US markets - they just got lost trying to find some middle ground between american and european way.
And btw, just look at those hideous rear lamps!

Does this guy realise this engine is outsourced by the Peugeot and is also used in Citroens?
Also, the interior is just average. The Audi A3, Alfa-Romeo Guilieta, Citroen C4 and Golf have way better interiors.

i have driven the new one. only other focus i can compare though is the mk1: \ (new ones better forsure. anyway this is one of the most engaging cars i have driven so i have no idea what this guy is on about. i usually agree with autocar but not this review, not by a mile.

I don't understand the guys who designed that car and then said: -Yeah, that looks pretty good - we'll for for that-. I really hope there's some smart aerodynamic thinking behind the design, because I think it's ugly as some old Korean cars.

Why do people get so worked up over one man's opinion about how this car handles? The temps are low and the road is wet, it will not handle as crisply as it could. There is no way ford tuned out that much feel that the Focus is known for.

I don't know about you. I liked the Alfa design but I find the interior just too narrow and small.
As for comparison between the old and new focus. apart from the less feel from the car there is not much difference (apart from refinement)

the guy should of tested the 1. 6 duratech its exellent on petrol the steering is spot on very smooth to drive easy to use dash its better than any other focus previously built this is amazing to drive, and the build quality is outstanding.
