What's best? The venerable Mercedes AMG 6. 2-litre V8, or the new 5. 5-litre biturbo V8? World record drifter and Autocar special correspondent, Mauro Calo, tests the Mercedes C63 AMG and SL63 AMG back-to-back on track to find out Trades46: Sure the M5/M6 has cross-bank turbos and whatnot, but artificially generated engine notes is criminal on any sports car and even moreso on ones badged as 'The Ultimate Driving Machine' -> AMG engines > M engines.
Cry me a river BMW fanboys.

Lol clearly those who thumb down my statement have never seen what a high end mercedes interior is like. This shit is all plastic in the C63. Like primeholyassasin20 said, AMG refinished the interior for 2012 to bring the standard up. Because it was a joke.

how could you compare a detuned 6. 2 amg engine on a c class with the highest possibly tuned version of the 5. 5 that when it was produced was made to be as good as the highest tuned 6. 2
reply

its a shame they are becoming a thing of the past, but Im sure sooner or later a turbo/supercharged engine will be lagg free.
Although a twincharger eliminates lagg does it not?

reply

Superchargers does have a lag, not as much as a Turbo, but there is a small one. Thats was makes naturally aspirated feel better.
Still live the supercharged AMGs most: -)

reply

Initially the C class interior was underwhelming. They gave it a refresh for 2012 though, so it's much better now. That C63 is from before the refresh.
reply

Well of course the twin-turbo engine won't sound as nice as the naturally aspirated. Turbo's dampen SO much sound. You're going to lose that nice rumble.
reply

Turbo lag is really only noticable on smaller engine where the turbo provides most of the grunt. Highly doubt there'd be much lag from a 5. 5lt AMG V8.
