Good review.
I drove the 1. 4 TSi a few weeks ago and was extremely impressed. Fantastic quality inside, great level of kit and the 1. 4 felt very keen. In NZ they are well positioned in terms of price.
In terms of styling? to me it doesn't move me at all and therefore, for my family we prefer our Civic Euro spec.

As the clip was rolling, I thought that this might well be the ideal spec until I heard the price! Now I think the GTI is reasonably priced in comparison! Dear God, how many years will I have wait for a Golf to become a reasonably priced used car?

I agree auto express isnt the most reliable auto journalist site. However autocar and carbuyer have given it many awards already and not to mention its world car of the year in just a few months of its debut. Its not crap, its pure genius

I've always loved the golf, and I think this new one is really nice. Classy and mature looking without being too bland and boring. Can't wait till it hits the states, in time for me to retire my current car =]

Not everybody wants a flashy boy racer car. VW did it right, making the car look classy and mature. I guess those who are stuck in the fast and furious days would like the flashy racy looking cars.

Older Focus' yes, they were reliable. My friend has one and beats it to a pulp all day every day. However my moms friend has a 2012 Focus and has had problems since day 1.

That is not entirely correct, all models with 105 hp or less has the rear solid axel so if u choose the 1. 4 tsi 122 hp u get the independent rear suspension

Actually I'm in India and trust me Indian driving conditions puts a lot of stress on all the critical components, especially the suspensions.
