I know this vid is really old but Inwanted to point out that this is NOT a reliable testing method. It-s very subjective and your attempts to have a fair and similar measurements are flawed as nothing is calibrated and you are measuring wind noise And there are many other variables between each test like where you are holding the phone, how much wind etc.
Also an important distinction is whether it was measured using -A- or -C- weighting - whereby A weighting filters out some bass energy - exhaust notes are mostly bass but each will have different tonal charactistics.
Can-t have a fair comparison between an Apple and an orange

My E39 M5 is straight piped and beats both of these hands down. but i would love the XKR-S in the garage with it in that lovely black or blue. its a very aggressive looking car and sounds brutal. I reckon if you straight piped it and put a smaller pulley on the Jag, it would be even more aggressive.
The Ferrari is amazing but their either for you or they aint. Personally my favorite was always the F40 or 360 Stradale for sound.

Ferrari sounds better by far. Your Db tests are extremely flawed but I've heard both in person and you feel the XKRS more in your body the 458 in your head which is representative of the octave differences between the two cars. BTW, if you want a loud car that blows both away get a 4. 7l Maserati Granturismo.

Louder is not better. otherwise remove the exhaust and you-ll have plenty of dB. but it will sound crap! Quality of the sound is what matters. to me anyway! The sound of a lambo is different from a ferrari and so is the jag, just a question of sensibility and tastes. useless test.

XKRS much better, always roaring. The driver down shifted in the Ferrari, so it made a louder noise, but he didn-t do the same in the XKRS. The KXRSs are famous for their massive roar when downshifting, so not a fair exercise.

Owned both! Nothing beats the F1 sound of 458, the Jaguar has a throttly raspy note but it is not an exotic sound like the ferrari for sure

Ferrari sounds good but that single plane crank just doesn't let it sound -right-. Jag has the famous V8 sound that rocks!
