I have driven them all in places humans shouldnot go -BIG HEAD- but an honest BIG HEAD For all those folk that shout down the old Range Rovers you are just ignorant because you have
not been there! This little Jimnyis a bloody good little car and even in the simplest of human hands will do more than the avarage jo bloggs can even dream of. Like most things the machine
will out do the avarage humans capabilities just like motor bikes. The latest machines are far beyound what we mere mortals can acheive so lets not get too hung up about what they will do
lets look at what we can do and take it from there Good vid and entertaining but does not acheive what I think you wanted it to do but good all the same!

Range rovers, good for allowing twits to off-road. This piece insults our intelligence. Anybody with a modicum of off-road experience in a Jimmy would wipe the floor all day long with that barge. It's physics, 2. 5 tons and only four driven wheels is not a good place to start. You don't need a comparison test, it's obvious from first principles. Also the ignorance of the testers in regard to the technical specification of the Jimmy is laughable. Equally, I find the suggestion that the RR's terrain control system is 'clever' equally daft, it's programmed by humans for god's sake! It can't improve on a human with 'live' feedback. Like I said, dumbed down off-road technology for the upper masses. One reason why I wouldn't have an RR newer than a P38. Sorry for the rant but this sort of low grade waffle really gets on my tits!

If I was going to buy a 4x4 for off road use not just driving in a bit of snow I would choose the lighter auto. every time. The other thing is that is I was going to go in many wet places the less electronics the better. The range rover is for people that want to look rich and likely will never even once drive the car off road more then just the driveway to some country estate. Many more will not even do that and instead just use it as a regular car and never engage the 4x4. The lighter the four by four is provided the parts on it are good and solid the better it will be. No need for a huge engine unless you intended to tow a trailer. Then there is the repair cost of a range rover. Wow that can add up very fast.

The jimny-s are amazing. I-m 18 years old and I have one and slowly putting things on it. I always call them a grampa-s car but then when you get the car fully done up; lifted, snorkel, winch kit, bull bar, etc, the car looks mint. I-m getting a 4- lift on mine as I want mine to look beefy as anything. The jimny in my opinion is the best 4x4 you can get. I was off-roading in a Jimny and we was with a defender 90-s defender 110 a jeep Cherokee and a discovery 3 and we still pulled the discovery and the jeep out from being stuck!

The electronics and air suspension are the death nell for SUV's that are used in rural areas or worse still for proper overlanding. They cannot be repaired in the field and the air suspension is an absolute no-no. Then there's the limitations of loading the thing. At least with a Jimny, it can tow a proper off road trailer and have a roof rack, side mounted kit and be repaired in the middle of nowhere with basic tools. #
If the check engine light comes in the RR you've had it. As for an auto box. dont think so.

the range rover isint a proper offroader cuz i used to have a jimny a guy with a range rover came and said he could beat my jimny on any terrain and then i said bet and he got stuck on every slope on every little cross and yeah its not a proper offroader and dan doesnt know what off road is he likes luxury over a good climber like yeah i understand but a samurai a jimny or a grand vitara will always be the best ohh and i forgot the patrol y60, y61 theyre good as well

Reminds me of an off-road test by one of the magazines, in about 1993. of the 6 or 7 4-door SUV's that were in the challenge, the only one that went everywhere that the Range Rover did was the Suzuki Sidekick! Automobile Magazine, iirc.

I think they both did well considering the tyres they had off roading is all about tyres at the end of the day smoothy tyres do not grip chunky chunky tyres grip no more to be said really!

The problem the RR has when off roading is the fool behind the controls. I have a L322 Autobiography and love it, one of the best 4x4 I have ever owned.
