Radical new BMW i8 hybrid sports car driven

We have owned several BMWs (5s and 7s but includes an M3. We have just sold our second Nissan GT-R (2009 and 2013. We owned and tracked a Gen 4 Viper even as we now track a Gen 5 Corvette Z06 - getting the picture? We love to drive real cars - both my wife and I are regulars at NASA HPDE events.
So, this i8 is all and much more as described - we live in Colorado and last 8 weeks have driven to and back from Dallas, Phoenix and most recently, Toronto - this last trip a 3200 mile return trip. The mileage returned was phenomenal - we have never experienced stopping just once a day and spending $25 on gas!
While it is neither a Viper or even a GT-R, there are times where it feels quicker! Mid-range / torque is unbelievable. 3 Cylinders? Our motorcycles had more cylinders and I was so, so suspicious. But no longer. we will now definitely be looking to add the -spider- as and when it comes out.
We walked from the Tesla shop as we think they aren't appropriate for us - we want a hybrid as here in the west of the US. No question - but others will prefer the complete opposite and that's fine by us. We have friends in both camps and it's just a subjective thing - but we now have absolutely no desire to move away from hybrids and indeed, we are looking at replacing our Jeep SRT with a hybrid SUV. stay tuned!

In this video i saw several Tesla's patents used but Tesla can not use a letter E in their cars name (even tho many car companys uses it? :S dam thats selfish BMW: S
Anyway the car looks nice (disain) but they could'w made it better, i mean much much more powerful, by doing one thing.
I wont tell if the BMW representitive gets contact with me i might tell them (ofcorse after the correct paperwork's done that they cannot use anythin i have told them unless i get paid for those things, i might take stock options too) otherways yeah.
It will conquer the market if it will be used and thats bad cos then there still oil base fules used, with allmoast no oil based cars negative sides (nor even electric car ones. So the best from both and allmoast none of the bad/negative from both.
So BMW reps. contact me; )

What is the point besides -because we can-?
The steering is non-communicative.
The brakes are unpleasent by traditionnal standards.
The sound is nothing to write home about.
It has an electric range of 25 miles.
With 1. 6 tonnes it is considered light.
200kilos of battery pack. How many charging cycles?
It does 35mpg (8l/100km.
It costs 100 grand.
What is the point?
Is that the best use they can make of hig tech?

Why would anyone buy this car. What is the point of a plug in on a car in this price range. If I was rich enough to buy this car I would not be concerned about plugging in for 20 miles of driving. If I was a wealthy person who was green minded I would buy the only logical choice. A Tesla. DUMB review. THUMBS DOWN.

it starts out at 134, 000 dollars people, not 140. u can have features added and have them deliver it to you for 140! lol (Side note) I would not like to see this man drive this car in a race cause he can barely stay in the white lines! lol

I like the car but I hate everything ON it. I hate the way the paint is applied, and I hate those rims, I just hate it. It should be a one tone car, or two (one being matte black/carbon) Also needs different rims, they just aren't good looking.

1: 05 -> I still don't understand why he has to slam that gearstick like that to manual. I have never did that in my life, I don't have to slam gearstick like that. You need to barely use any force for it to switch.

-1, 500 mile range and 134 MPG. - You really don't understand what you are talking about, do you? Hope someone has since explained to you about MPGe. And how that is in E-mode only, not when you're burning petrol.

I'm a Bimmer guy, but why would I choose this over Tesla?
Tesla is cheaper, has 4 doors, it's also practical like hatchback and it's faster then this.
I just don't get it. i8 just looks good.
