The naturally aspirated flat six defines the true spirit of Porsche, the trajectory of forced induction with the obsession of bhp and 0 to 60 is a mere lazy excuse where car makers hid their lack of craftsmanship. There is no where to hid in a 4. 0 NA Porsche, as the engine sings praises to the mechanical god. Turbo charge Porsche sound synthetic like a quasi electric car, now the poor man's Porsche is now the real enthusiast Porsche. What an irony of history.

$90, 000 in the U! S. That-s without options! High priced for me. But undoubtedly a great car. The base 4 cylinder is $30, 000 less. Is the sound worth the difference. The other performance upgrades in the GTS. make little difference for the average driver. I guess a base Boxster with the four is still the Best Buy for most of us.

-The steering is the same- - Probably wrong
-The suspension is the same- - Definitely wrong
The 718 GTS is awesome, but a GT4 it is not. The GT4 has a significantly sharper GT3-derived suspension, a more aggressive wheel and tire set up, bigger brakes, more downforce, and more power.

6: 10 you understeered into oncoming traffic's lane - NOT GOOD - Fantastic car but still expensive - maintenance accessibility is also a concern of mine - pass. And later they can try to fit the 3. 0 turbo flat six into a stretched wheelbase, longer ' 719 ' and charge even more. ; P

There will definitely be a Cayman GTS 4. 0 in my future. This is literally the exact car I wanted Porsche to build, it's basically a 'GT4 Touring' and I'm surprised they didn't call it that. I know it's not due out until next year, but I hope they get the configurator online soon.

That-s not a Motorsport engine! That-s not the same 4. 0 L engine of the 911 GT3. It-s an excellent car of course, but that tester gets carried away easily and loses credibility! I love my 911 Carrera but I would have that new Boxster GTS too if I could afford both.

Amazing reading the comments. You would think Porsche had dumped the T4 motor, but fact is the majority of 718s sold will continue to have the T4 motor. By all means spend $20K - $30K more to have the NA6 for a slower car that sounds better.

Why is the engine noise so important? For the past 3 and half decades i have been reading Autocar, car chassis responses has been the topmost important aspect for Autocar reviewers. Why has that changed when it comes to a 4 cyclinder Porsche?

Something about the Porsche engineering that creates the perfect sorts car that none can match at the price point. Other premium brands are either deficient in steering, sound, involvement, auto only transmissions.

My friend bought a 718 s and having never been in a porsche i was really sad to hear a tinny almost diesel noise with auto shift noise. grr the old flat 6 and this gts so much better
