I hate it when people bring up the leaf spring thing with Corvettes, because it really means they don't understand what was going on. When leaf springs are used as the entire suspension to locate a live axle, yeah that's a bad-handling setup. The last Corvette to use that configuration was the C1 in the 1950s. The Corvette leaf springs were transverse, acting as spring and anti-roll bar, on an otherwise-conventional geometry independent suspension. Compared to coils it was much lighter and the center of gravity was lower. But, it was fairly unique, which meant that it was a lot more difficult to engineer and produce aftermarket springs, and it could sometimes get in the way for some maintenance jobs. They went back to coils (starting with the C8) partly for that reason, and partly because an entire generation of misinformed Dunning-Kruger snobs were looking down their noses at the -primitive- leaf springs, and that was bad press.

Diehard Porsche fan here. The C8 looks silly on a computer screen but in person it does look and feel special. In my experience vettes are pretty solid for about 5 years and the porsches seem to hold their -timeless- look a bit better with age. In the mountains I-ve been badly outran in my c7 z06 by a gt3 many times and I would like to think of myself as a skilled driver.

I prefer the Porsche over any GM car or a Ford just leaps and bounds ahead of the game. I own a Cayman and it's mush more fun then the C8 corvet I know because I have driven one. Yeah it's a nice car but it's not the same as driving a manual transmission sports car and that makes all the difference. Automatic transmission for me just ruins the drive in a true sports car.

The 911 with any options is well over 110, 000 in USA the corvette starts at 59900. Porsche is very expensive I have and love Porsche cars
, but it-s tiring comparing different price points. Ans usally the magazines put a s or turbo against a normal car like a 370 z ans say see the Porache is (but is 3 times as much)

Okay, the new vett is nice but what about the build quality, fit and finish? And what about in 3 years compared to the 911? The Porsche will still be tight and strong. Not so with the vett. No one can compare with the Porsche. Just my opinion.

After a new transmission at 85 miles, new water pump at 85 miles, and a new instrument cluster module, I have decided to trade in my 2020 C8 on a used, mint condition 911 C2S Cabriolet. Sad day but one that is likely needed.

European car companies are worried what American buyers will pick because a large ckunck of their sales takes place in the US. So the Europeans can crap all over the Corvette but the Porsche and Audi companies are gonna take a hit.

I think it's fair to say that perhaps American cars are made less superior than those of the European kind. However, it will always be by choice and reason alone and never ever because they do not know how.

I love how Europeans are hating on this car when gm literally can't keep up with the number of orders being placed for it. People are speaking with their wallets, it's a great car.
