See the latest discounts & finance deals from BuyaCar: Read a review of the VW Passat vs the Skoda Superb: The family car sector has come under fire in recent years, with buyers abandoning traditional saloons, hatchbacks and estates in favour of SUVs, MPVs and premium models. However, VW is keeping faith and has just launched a new version of its long-serving Passat, which is now entering its seventh generation. Bosses have been careful not to mess with the hugely successful Passat formula, so the newcomer doesn't look much different to its five-year-old predecessor

I've had my Mondeo Mk IV Titanium (with its 2. 0 litre Mazda Duratec heart) for ten years now. Just the most enjoyable car to drive - even after all these years. I've looked after the maintenance well and the engine is bomb proof. Having said that, the biggest issue I had with it a few years back that nearly made me switch up was the high pressure fuel line which, amazingly, sprang a leak and nearly turned the car into a bomb. But I have a great mechanic who found a way to fix it cheaply instead of redoing the whole fuel system, which would have ended the car. I thought about updating to a new Mondy at that time - and even test drove one a few years ago (and a BMW - don't ask, but the Mk V really is a totally inferior drive to the Mk IV. They put all the bells and whistles in it and then messed about with one of the best steering/suspension packages ever made and chucked in some really average power plants. Why!
So, no. even though she's looking a bit tired these days, I'm keeping my 25 grand and sticking with the old girl until either it conks out or I do. Whichever comes first! I just love it.

Yes. It looks like these guys are campaigning for Ford. They compare every car of the world with Ford and declare Ford as the best; and with the only thing of -Fun to Drive-. What to do with this fun to drive when it let me down in a country road or catch fire in the middle of town?
I have seen 7 Vauxhall and 2 Ford car burning in flames on the road since 2010. I have observed a lot of Vauxhalls with steering power and Clutch failure. Fords with electrics and Gearbox problem but I drove VW Passat with faulty Turbo and management light on for 2 & half years and never stopped for a moment. This is called reliability which the other two lacks. Also Passat is more comfortable than the other two; it won't make you tired of excessive driving.
When we buy a car, we say buy a car made in country starting from letter sounding J (Germany - Japan.
The reason; they are PRE (Practical, Reliable & Economical. Economical in terms of running cost, maintenance and better resale value.

As usual talking out of your Arse! AE.
I weighed up all the pro and cons and bought a mondeo 1. 6 ecoboost tiitty X, Yes it's comfy spacious, massive boot, clever gadgets, once remaped offers 190bhp and over 220lbs, not bad, But the Brake pedal is So sensitive in traffic the slightest press and it stamps to a stop so I try try to press it light almost to the point of hitting the guy up front, but nope Stamp stops with Everything or Nothing so I'm either going to ram the car in front trying to brake softly which is not at all or i have the car behind in my boot for sharp stops, And while the car does grip I'm clueless as to whether or not it will there's is no feedback from the Steering wheel, it's so light at speed u wonder if your still on the tarmack.

I find it funny how they said the passat and insignia are boring to drive but the insignia feels more upmarket then he says the passat is better than the insignia makes no sense maybe its to do with the fact vaxahll isnt German mmmm how did I guess. Because they always put German cars as being better and if a German car is bad they find some way to dress up the way they critasise it very interesting

The Mondeo wins but Just, has your ability to diffrentiate between shit and quality gone out the window. The Passat trumps both the Mondeo and the Vauxhall Vectra, sorry I mean Insignia any day how can you compare those 2 models to a VW German engineered far superior car, brand and residual value better quality all round.

Insignia in your test it's not even sri while testing ford is highest version of Mondeo titanium X. Your test is not relevant. Why you didn't test Insignia biturbo what will be relevant rival for Mondeo titanium X. Not mentioned vw they are cheating carmakers.

I've run all 3 as lease cars. The Insignia is nowhere near the other 2 IMHO. The lease company actually apologised to me when they switched me out of the Mondeo into an Insignia. Passat was good, the Mondeo is way more roomy particularly in terms of width.

At all videos the passat is much better than insignia I am not at the same opinion. The insignia is more comfortabale for long distances I think and is probably better for family car. This is a matter of taste (That is my opinion: D.

Passat better range of engines? Vw fitted emission cheat device to both petrol & Diesel engines as up to 400% above max legal pollution output for 12 years! Mondeo always comfortably beats the dubious Passat.
reply

Ignore these reviews best just to and test drive the 3 and see what one you like.
I ended up with the Ford going on all the review's by so called pros.
I find it very firm compared to my old vw
