Top Gear? In the same track Fifth Gear recorded a lap in both cars, and the Ferrari was faster 1 tenth of a second than the McLaren. Top Gear simply shows fake results, like the drag race finished tie beetween the 458 Italia and the SLS AMG: there are many videos in the web that shows that the Ferrari is much faster than the SLS.
Top Gear is an entertainment program, reality is quite a lot different.

And did you see The ugly back of the McLaren? The designers only focus on the front and side for an average design, the back looks like a barbecue grill.
The 458 Italian is Art, I don't care if another car is faster, this car would/has make another piece of car-history made by Ferrari. Priceless!

There have been another test where the MP4-12C have been compared on the sme track, in the same conditions by the same driver to the 458, the Driver was the old -The Stig-, the 458 was I think 1, 5 s faster than the MP4. These two cars have very similar and comparable performance from one track to another I think.

It seems inaccurate; my bet is that the Mclaren would be 1-1. 5 seconds faster; it seems a case of just matching feel through the corners, rather than maximixing available grip. The Mclaren is lighter, more powerful, and has more downforce. something doesn't add up.

Im really not a mclaren fanboy but you should watch the stig on the topgear lap. The stig is a very good driver maybe the best on the topgear track and the mclaren only needs 1: 16. 2 and the ferrari needs 1: 19. 0

What a shit test, the guy talks like a waterfall and explains us both cars while he tries to tells us he is driving on the limit to see which car is faster. Shut your hole dude and concentrate on driving first!

the only explanation I can come up with is that the driver didn't know how and when to apply the air brake. On the Top Gear track: Mclaren MP4-12C did 01: 16. 2 and the Ferrari 458 Italia did 01: 19. 1

I dont believe it as confidence inspiring to more experienced drivers who like to have more control over a car, maybe that is why. Surely the updated McLaren would beat the 458 around track.

Not surprised. The 458 beat the MP4 on the Car Magazine test by ex-Stig Ben Collins, on 5th Gear and Evo. The McLaren is faster only on the TG track because it was developed there.

Just wait until the 458 Scuderia, the normal 458 is already faster on some tracks even though its slower in a straight line but the Scuderia will eat the 12C for breakfast.
