I don't doubt that the new Nissans will be better for drivers and passengers in NY and LDN but what about people looking from the outside? There's something reassuring about a black cab beetling about.

The Nissan cedric taxis are common in Japan but what you see more on Japan's roads are the Toyota crown comfort, the zero crown and the prius cab.
Also the auto-opening feature of the rear door is only available in Japan and a few Chinese large cities such as Hong Kong and Macau, where taxi fares are a bit more expensive than other parts of the world and people want higher and nicer services from a cab driver.

Thanks or the upload. This NV200 is facing a Challenge in New York. The Cedric as a cab is interesting. Being in America we only experience the Crown Vic but recently other makes are making rounds especially Hybrids.

who wants to take a Nissan minivan cab in New-York and London? The day Big american sedens will be all gone, and London taxi's as well, the cities will loose a tourist attraction.

I'm sorry but the Crown Vics looked iconic and quite imposing, it also had a v8 engine. this thing just looks like a japanese box. Are the americans going soft?

Funny b/c today, a NY city judge ruled against a law that mandates NYC taxi operators purchase the Nissan NV200. I guess now taxi operators have a choice.
