No diseasel for me. I understand that diesel has a place in family saloons and estates. However for a 5 door hot hatch. nah. Just no way. It might be more economical on paper, but it's going to miss all the fizzy wonderfulness that Ford ST's range is respected for. Nice car, not for me. If you're looking for fuel economy, you can most likely ease off with the Petrol and get 45mpg+ anyway. Seriously considering the 2. 0T petrol.

Just come back from test driving this diesel ST and all I can say is Wow! I went not expecting what it turned out to be, quick with great handling and fast acceleration, i had to laugh as I accelerated the salesman sinking into his seat with the torque from the car. this car definitely gives you that -pull- I want expecting. Definitely considering this car!

It might be reasonable quick at lower speeds in gear, but make no mistake out right performance is Slow, foot flat to the floor from pull off to over 100mph is poor I think the golf gtd nay even be quicker And the 1. 5 ecoboost 182 won't be far off either. Look at auto trader Less than one year of ownership people are queuing up to get rid of them.

I think trying to compare this to the petrol Focus ST was where you messed up. You shouldn't be comparing it to the obviously faster version, you should be comparing it to the standard diesel model and asking: is this worthy of being called the ST of diesel Foci? And i wouldn't doubt the answer would be yes.

I'm not happy about the silly black grill on the rear. I'd have to get it in black. The drive is punchy and tight - No body roll. Doesn't feel aggressive like a petrol though. Just feels like average was pushed slightly beyond average. I'd give it a 7/10. Looking at a swift sport soon

Ford turns the ST from a car into a model range, so that people obsessed with fuel economy can feel included and claim they own a 'hot hatch' too. Next in the range will be the automatic STD, to which Ford shall add the acronym for -Automatic Injected Diesel Sports-.

Diesel can be sporty but it's arguably a different drive from a naturally aspirated petrol engine. I actually like the diesel mid-range muscle. But I also like the heady 7000+ rpm red line of a late 1990's Nissan Primera GT or a BMW inline six. I'm stuck: )

Since the VW diesel emissions scandal I bet a lot of people are going to pick this over a golf GTD/ Leon FR TDI.
However what sort of mpg does this -STD- give in the real world? That 67mpg claim sounds a bit optimistic to me.
