New Renault Megane 2016 review: is this a return to form for Renault?

The new Renault Megane caused a stir at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Gone was the conservative exterior and interior styling of its predecessor, and in comes a daring new design. The new Megane is possibly the best looking car in its class but it's not just skin deep - the cabin is built well and features a Volvo XC90-style tablet touchscreen. On this first impressions, Renault has righted the wrongs of the old Megane and produced a very impressive family hatchback

The megane has and always been a good mid range family hatch for the masses, review the normal spec versions as you really are buying that or really the RS model when that is launched. Reviewing the GT model is like taking an ST line or SRi and saying its not really this or that because it compromises between two extremes of A to B car and a performance hot hatch it. Look at this GT as say a bigger Clio RS or even the 308 GT, this particular model should be reviewed in its own category. And to talk about having a DSG gearbox is not very unique, granted its one of the best but if you want an auto performance hatch just buy a Golf GTi, but then expect to pay a little extra for a standard golf with a DGC. It has its faults this GT but Renault make decent mid range cars or great handling and fast hatches, so looking at this and basing the whole megane line off this car is rather unfair besides build quality isn't everything or worst crime going or has everyone forgot dieselgate.

I have never ever seen a positive review on a french car from a british media.
You can find some very positive reviews from Germany, Spain, Italy and some bad too it's just more balanced.
Frankly the way the british reviews goes only one direction is laughable, let's take Renault this company has sold 2, 8 mio cars in 2015 for a turnover around 45 bn- they must manufacture at least one car which not too bad.
And I a NOT a Renault fan, I drive an Audi I used to drive a Scenic more than 15 yrs ago it was an average car, but overall good for the price I've paid it, no better or worse than a Ford or an Opel.

5 year warranty, 4 wheel steering, light weight, solid build quality, very nice interiors, hybrid engines with instant throttle response (in 2017, RS division know-how. Renault offers a lot nowadays, only badge snobs fail to see it.

bought the renault megane touring III 2014 model for my daily driver. super cheap purchase from dealer and it costs nothing to own. great look and nice interior. can't complain at all

Only problem i see here is that this particular model with all those additional options cost as a BMW 3 series lol. most people will not buy a buffed Megane like this one

ok, his voice is pretty annoying and his gestures are quite exuberant, but the fact is his review are GREAT, and are better then some others, so you gotta just get over it.

you guys are all pathetic, what's wrong with his review? although I don't like the car, but I don't think he's not doing a good job! #grow_the_F_up

The other benefit of giving it VWs DSG gearbox is that when they explode after two years they replace it with a new one free of charge.

Oh please don't torture people by putting vw parts into more cars I'd say this even being a Renault will be more reliable than the newer vw's.

Its my own opinion. But i think, after starting 3rd version of megane, this model lose classic megane charm.
It looks a bit unfinished.
