Checked out a 2020 GT4 at the local dealer, trade in (owner is upgrading to a 2022 GT3. less than 2K Miles. We went for a spin. Fantastic car. Sadly, ordered without the PCCB and they are asking 5k USD more than the MSRP. Markets are nuts right now. Rumor now (5 years after this was posted) is the GT4 RS which also makes me want to wait just yet. but, no matter what people are hoping, it'll be PDK only and slower/less powerful than the GT3. Count on those two things, sadly.

Interesting, over a 1min lap cse a 3sec gain is quite something. 2min cse 6-7 sec, 3min cse 10-12sec, yep it-s fast! until you put it up against the new Mclaren senna, then not so much - my $ wud be on the gt4, better all round car and perhaps even better looking. Btw if you put 5k of mods into the gt4 & put it up against a standard gt3, it will be close! Real close.

The reality is that even the comfort model 991. 1 C2S is faster than the GT4 without the 991. 1 using track tires. Yes, the gt4 is an awesome car for the money but why compare it to a gt3 rs? Track times are much closer to a 997. 2 C2S (with same tires and GT3 align settings. Like I said, I love the gt4 but sometimes I think the hype blurs reality.

bit pointless IMO. The GT4 is a road car, the GT3 is a race track car. Hence why - standard - it comes with a racing harness (instead of seat belts, a roll cage (instead of rear speakers) and the only optional extra is a fire extinguisher! Im pretty sure my girlfriend would prefer the GT4 to the GT3 for comfort alone

oh boy. maybe Porsche has considered that for consumers the Cayman could make the better track car with more power/AT/electronic PS while the 911 could make the better canyon carving weekend warrior with a MT/hydraulic PS like people always wanted.

what a pointless VS battle. The GT4 has the same engine of the Carrera S, so why not do a VS with that? Instead you not only choose the GT3, you choose the GT3 RS? and not only that but manual vs PDK? Amazing

THe GT4 still wins here. For a car that costs 80-100k in the U. S. It's only 3 seconds behind a car that is being sold used at 175-208k. Still want a GT3RS still. GT4 is my non fantasy car though.

A fair test would-ve been gt3 vs Gt4- no an RS model. Auto express is starting to become notorious for silly imbalanced track battle comparisons. Similar crap on them m5 vs GTR battle. Makes little sense

If the Cayman GT4 had PDK + a tuned 3. 8 (instead of detuned 3. 8) + Aero, the results would have been embarrassing for 911 fans.
A better comparison is a manual 991. 2 GT3
