Thanks, this made the job real easy. When I've removed my glove compartment I don't bother removing the screw for the damper. the other end of the damper pops off of its mounting point pretty easily, and isn't bad to reinstall, either. So that can save you a whopping 20 seconds.
Of course it figures that I cleaned my throttle body at the same time, and then had a heart attack when the engine refused to start. Of course the ECU was throwing a dozen unrelated codes about various circuits being open, as one of the plugs going into the ECU had come unseated when I moved it out of the way to get to the blower motor. D'oh!

Thank you for this post. I recently had a mouse die in my blower motor. My car smelled like death warmed over since we are having heat in the 90's this month. My husband is a great mechanic but he works on a tugboat & was out of town. He found this video and sent it to me. Following your video I was able to clean the dead mouse out of my blower motor. My husband could have told me what to do but I am a visual learner. So having the video was a blessing. No more stinky dead mouse. Thanks

Just saved me some money and worry. Although mine had a horrible vibration a couple years ago and it was a problem with the actuator that swings opens the flapper to recirculate the cabin air which is a whole other issue! This video works for my problem now which is the fan working intermittently. Buy the fan on Amazon though. 40 vs 60-100 at local parts stores. Thanks for posting! I'm a non-mechanically inclined girl but now you have me the confidence to do this! Wish me luck.

Hey, I normally don't comment but this one rated it. First of all concise and to the point. While I could figure it out, this saved a bunch of time and was spot on. Second, my fan motor AND resistor failed BUT I also had the cracked fan like yours. This seems to be a common fault on these units. Third, I found the parts on Amazon for 70 buck for BOTH parts! Finally, I liked your honesty with your customer! GREAT Work!

thank you fir the video, my blower for my vibe should be here tomorrow, i will use this video to do it myself. save me the headache. since winter decided to return to michigan. its very cold in the car. now two questions, i'm sure they have been answered already but do i have to disconnect my battery? and doing this will not set off the airbag will it if the battey does not need to be unhooked.

That's a damn visually clear and dummy (like me) proof tutorial video!
Thank you so much taking time showing such a very helpful piece of DIY!
After having been noisy for couple of months, my blower (Vibe 2005) started to work on and off. I will have to replace it and will be able to do it myself with your video!

Just a heads up for any folks looking to go to the salvage yard to save money. The Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe have different blower motors. I found that out the hard way, but ended up using the brushes to rebuild the broken Pontiac blower motor from a Toyota Matrix.

Thanks for the video! I just replaced my motor using your steps. I'm a novice and had in done in less than 20 minutes. Now lets hope that fixes my problem (intermittent blowing motor. if not i'll be looking for a video for changing the resistor

Hey man. Thank you for doing this. Got mine (2004 Vibe) removed, and found a small dead mouse in it. Cleaned it up and it works like a champ now. I appreciate your efforts! That little elbow hose to the motor, what is it for? Thanks again!
