I am working on replacing both front axle u-joints and the wheel bearings on a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. I show how to do it with a cutting torch and the possible problems you could have along the way

Burn the zerc off 1st, no grease 'explosion' - it lets the grease out as soon as it gets hot. Just make sure the point the burned off zerc down and away from you and keep your feet back. I personally have tried about all possible approaches, and prefer the specialized screw press (the kind with the sliding hook made for the purpose. But sometimes you have to work with what's around, and the 2 socket and hammer process almost always fits that requirement.
I like the variety of the videos, nice work.

Nice video - the rust reminds me of working on ocean going crab boats - had a 100 hp electric motor to rebuild and did the entire disassembly with a cutting torch - a welder - a hammer and vice grips- put it back together with a torch and one wrench for the new end bell bolts - properly applied heat is a wonderful thing.

After five decades of working with cutting torches i learned to half fill a five gallon pail and put it beside the work area prior to staring ANY cutting, if you get hot slag in your boot, just step into the pail, yeah you get wet but it is the only method fast enough to save you from a nasty burn, just saying.

At 5: 20, my wife comes running in and says was that Jim Morrison? Well, maybe not. Okay, when putting the U-joint caps on, many times I'll get a needle cocked and it will break when I put pressure on the cap. How do you guys keep the needles in place? Lotsa' grease doesn't seem to be any guarantee for me.

Be careful on those mushroom heads on ur punches. I've seen chips fly off and get embedded in a co workers chest. I've also read stories of worst accidents from flying chips. They can fly out at the speed of a bullet, fyi. God Bless.

SOooooo. I gather the average home mechanic in New York and other places NORTH; can NOT work on their own car, Unless they have a cutting torch and a Big nasty? Huum. no wonder I LOVE New Mexico! ONLY dirt/dust, no rust.

Just browsing around and noticed when you pushed the break caliber in. A drip of fluid dripped in the background. Of course this is an old video so it doesn't really matter now. ;-)
