Pontiac G6 GT: Front Wheel Bearing & Brakes

Service manual states to coat bore for wheel bearing with anti-sieze. So why is there none from the factory? Since the 80 s i have been using anti-sieze in bore and on axle spline. Hunnerds and hunnerds of em.
And occasionally i get the good luck to remove a bearing that has anti-sieze. It falls out like its new.

love your videos! Been alot of help, I, have a? How do you feel about lubing rubber services like caliper piston boot, brake line, caliper sliders, axle boots, things like that? Maybe bad? you are in the repair bessiness, Been watching alot of your diagnoxic vids and been very helpfull, thanks. You and me alot alike, started working on cars at around 14, worked at small town repair shop while in highschool, Got married at 17 and had to find better pay so got job at GM in 76, worked there 32 yrs but never stopped working on cars. My own and family friends, you know, Only take my cars to dealer if warrenty work or recalls, absolutly hate dealerships, I have got in many arguements with them people, another story, but now retired from GM and still working on alot of cars, of course not making any money, so cannot efford the diagnoxtic tools needed for todays cars. And no I am NOT a GM fan, All makes have their own quirks and troubles, but do like saabs and vw, well made, but a pain to work on and costly. Hey Eric O try out Rode Video Micro Microphone its a power house for such a small Microphone i have 6 of them they work amazing have one on each camera other then a few other Rode mics but my favorite is the video micro hope it helps Its not exspensive either 59 bucks at bestbuy think its more expensive on amazon SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

My wife bought a new pontiac G6 and we had to replace the front brakes 4 times because the whole front of car shook violently and had the electric power steering unit replaced 3 times. That car was a lemon the last GM product we will hopefully ever buy. I can see why they quit making pontiac. Pontiac 1967 GTO was my favorite car.

I m so glad that you mention to pump up the pedal. When I was working as a Mazda UK mechanic, I replaced the pads on an MX6 & reversed off the four-poster - had to give it the beans, to get it over the ramp detents & almost drove it into the wall outside.

Wow when you said salt water I thought you had some lake effect snow and had to have the road crew out plowing and salting. But then you said it was older and stuck in the cue that let me relax. Am I seeing things or did that squealer go on back words?

SMA fans think: yup, that's how all Wheel bearing are changed. All the shady mechanics around the world think: nope, I don't clean those, nah, I don't lube those and I have never thought about doing that thing, I just ship 'em.

Seeing the salt accumulation on the G6 reaffirms my belief in getting multiple car washes with undercarriage wash a week during the winter season.
My 13' Elantra GT in MN with no rust seems to confirm that.

How do you keep the steering wheel lock from interfering with the ability to move the wheels back and forth? I mean, do you have to keep the key in the ON position all the time, or is there something simpler?

Man oh man. What a salt buggy. Dropping salt bergs on you. And only mid october. Brings back not so fond memories of working on the family cars in the 60's back in good ole Deeetroit. Now it's Florida baby.
