Just did the oil change on my dream car, it wasn't that simple.
Granted, it's a 2001 Focus with 277000 km. The plug was completely rounded off and stuck, the filter was stuck as well on top of beind dirty and we were working without lifting my car at all. Yes, you read that right, we didn't lift the car, me and my friend fitted comfortably under my car without any additional space. It took 3 days and 3 people to get that plug removed, after that we did everything at lightspeed. The oil was so nasty it was the same color and density of hot chocolate

Yo Chris can I say something, we all know you love cars as much as us, ur fans but you know what would be sick if you buy a cheap affordable motorcycle learn it, mod it, etc like build one because we all know all biker guys are car guys but not all car guys are biker guys. However, I am a biker guy and I would like to see those videos and I think people can agree. Just so you know I’m not forcing you just wanted to give you an idea bc I need the del sol turbo vid.

Happy Friday Chris Fix it. Been watching your videos for years now. Congrats on the Hospital clean garage space and that sick Bendpak lift. Nice job on the oil change. I have a 2014 Maserati Ghibli SQ4 like your dads in the maroon color. The blue really pops. I'm about 2000 miles away from an oil change, but your video was awesome to show me where everything was to do this job on a Maserati. Super easy, no different than a Camaro or Mustang really.

I used to be a Maserati technician. Seeing the Quattroporte brings back a lot of memories. We actually have a metal shield to place in front of the drain bolt to prevent the oil from pouring onto whatever you don't want it to pour onto. The oil filter will always make a mess but you can go into the car. Start it up and shut if off right away to such the oil out of the filter. Much less messy.

Bendable oil change pads that keep their shape are the way to go. I leave one end open (while slightly bending up the edges) for maximum coverage and slightly funnel the drainage end to control and reduce splash before hitting the pan. Of course, some angles make it difficult but I break loose the plug, run it out then last few threads and then set everything up

Shouldn't this be titled 'How to SAVE $400 and change the oil in your car, by using $10'000 of tools'
I'm just kidding, if anyone deserves these luxuries, it's Chris Fix. Getting your dads dream car must have been such a proud moment for both of you, and you did it by being a good human. Earned.

So what are your plans for the future with all this content and following you've made
You've kinda stopped doing content the last few years and have recently started doing shorts.
Are you going to focus more on racing stuff or stick to your roots of easy to do with simple tools

I'm sure Maserati has some sort of custom deflector to make that oil comes out without splashing all over the lines. Personally I would definitely be using some flexible plastic to do so myself. Probably could just cut up an empty jug and wedge it in there upside down.

Actually for those who don't wanna waste too much towel cleaning up oil, you can use those cake silicon spatula that perfectly scrape away the oil into one spot and wipe it off with minimal towel. If you're skillful enough, you can even scoop it up without using towel
reply

Chris, knowing how careful you are with your work, I was hoping you’d put aluminum foil around the spot where the old oil jumps out onto the hoses.
I’m a bit disappointed.

Nive job man you were an influence to me to become a mechanic. But you have to release the oil filter a lil bit so the air goes through there to when you do the oil change big love
reply

I'm jealous of the lift. LOL the joke about the engineering for a common maintenance item. My 2000 F-150 was a nightmare. The filter was just above the front differential.
reply

yo chris i just bought a suzuki cultus yes the old one it has some noises here and there so can you make a video on inspecting old cars
specially if they are pakistani

reply

You need to get a flexible oil funnel or flexible drain tube it's a silicone coated mat that you can put around those hoses to redirect the oil when draining!

man i keep watching his old videos like the police car and his very first car again and again this guy is a dang legend 90% of kids watching bro is a enginner
reply

lol, save $400. Step one, spend $3500 on a hoist. lol. This is a nice setup and am truly happy for your success. Been a long time coming. Very cool to see.
reply

That's not fair. For Always you teach us to repair car on the driveway and now you have car lift. I don't have car lift, is that mean i need to buy one
reply

Part of your allure was doing everything in your driveway like the rest of us. Hopefully all your videos don't include working with the convenience of a lift.

i was broke and had to do my own maintenance to cut cost as much as possible. chrisfix was one who helped much with his videos. he was and still my hero
