Change your car with Carwow: This is the all-new Audi A6 Avant! Audi has reversed its naming policy of even-numbered cars being electric only, so the new A6 Avant will come with both petrol and diesel engines! The question is, what else has changed Let’s take a closer look. On the outside, the A6 has undergone a design overhaul, but it is still distinctly an Audi. Up front, there’s a large aggressive grille, flanked on either side by sharp headlights. Being an Audi, it’s naturally equipped with fantastic headlights, which come with the option to personalise in several different ways. Along the side the car sports flush door handles, and at the back there’s a large wraparound light bar, as well as a set of taillights. And of course, given it’s powered by a petrol or diesel engine, there looks to be a set of real exhaust tips as well! The A6 also looks super smart on the inside. It’s equipped with Audi’s latest panoramic driving display, as well as the option to add a third screen for the front passenger! The A6 is likely to be equipped with soft-touch materials throughout most of the cabin, and there are ambient lights fitted throughout. It looks seriously impressive! Regarding engines in the UK, there will be a choice of a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol or diesel engine. The petrol is front-wheel drive, while the diesel comes with a mild hybrid system and is equipped with Quattro all-wheel-drive - both cars produce 204hp. Elsewhere a 3-litre turbo V6 will also be available, and an S6 is also in the works. We also hope that a petrol-powered RS6 will arrive in the not-too-distant future! The new Audi A6 goes on sale from April 1st 2025 costing from 52, 500. So is it the best premium estate around Or is a 5 Series Touring the better option You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself! I had a chance to experience this new generation of Audi interiors at the Toronto Auto Show just a few weeks ago in the new Q6, and it appears that Audi will be installing this interior on every model (to save on cost of course, gone are the days when every Audi had unique interior)
So, what is the experience
Well, first impression is wow! A good looking new dash, lots of screens, cool LED lighting, eye catching design at first. THEN, first 30 seconds you start to see the obvious:
- the dash is soft touch, but it is firm and it does not feel very premium, not cheap, but not very tactile and high quality
- on the sides of the center console, it is all hard plastic. Like on an Entry level Kia. Very obvious and disappointing.
- door panels- lower section of door panels are also all hard plastic, like on the above mentioned Kia, but even worse, there was no felt material in the door pockets on this premium Audi, something that any vw golf gets that, but Audi was on a mission to save $3. 99 and it feels downright cheap.
- window switches - one large black panel, again piano black. The whole panel moves when you try to press a button. There are no buttons, no aluminum surrounds like before that made the whole thing feel premium. No, cheap clicking plastic panel, I suppose it can sense where you finger is to know which window to open
- steering wheel buttons - same as above, piano black panels on both sides, no individual buttons
- lots of piano black plastic, especially around the cup holders- the entire panel is piano plastic. I won’t even comment how it will look after 2 years when cups hit the edges of the plastic, or any sharper object leaving scratches, not to mention smudges etc.
- air vents. Black plastic. The little black hard plastic ball that you hold to change direction of flow, feels cheap, and the entire movements up, down, left, right felt coarse and very far from smooth and heavy operation that gives a feeling of solidity.
- volume knobI remember when the 2006 Audi A6 came out, everyone was in shock how everything was so tight, and how the buttons and knobs felt like an expensive Swiss watch. Not here. The volume knob had lower quality of operation than on an any Honda or Kia, the buttons felt cheap, completely gone is the nice solid clicking sound you may remember.
But I like the exterior!
Way to go Audi!

I like the style of the car but the front lights looks like from Kia Stinger. Back side is looking like other ordinary Volkswagen. Do not get me wrong, I like the exterior but C8 version looked more like Audi than this. But what they done to interior, why the did this to my boy. It looks like MB EQ, displays everywhere, it is the worst. Where is gear lever The gear lever was there for decade and now they got button like in new Skoda I am glad I got my hands on previous model because this is mid at max.

Exactly the same interior of the new A5(A4, filled with cheap piano black plastics, scratchy plastics, screens everywhere. Like any Chinese/Korean brand. While charging more and more every generation.
As a owner of a C8 A6 and E-tron Sportback (which already had plenty of cost cutting in interior quality, to say I'm disappointed is being tame.
Audi needs to fire everyone making these decisions or else they will disappear.

SO. its uglier, slower, and worst in every single aspect, BUT, STILL MORE EXPENSIVE THAN HIS COMPETITORS Well done Audi, another year being the worst car company ever known to man, now u guys have succesfully destroyed the only good car yall had left, the rs6. THE MOMENT HAS FINALLY ARRIVED! BYE AUDI! SEE YOU NEVER. No one will miss ur slow, overpriced, understeering, soul less, soundless, style-less ugly cars.

Although I find the infotainment screens to be excessive, this is the first time when comparing the the same generation, I'd think I'm going to prefer the Audi RS6 (when it eventually came comes out) over a BMW M5. But all of this means nothing as I won't be able to afford either for a very long time and if I had the money, I'd still opt for the F90 M5.
reply

Its Ugly. The Break lights are so ugly and the steering wheel looks also extrem ugly and Plastik china like. General the back looks not good. this is so bad. Audi dont know anymore how to do good looking cars. The front is ok but it looks like A5. But the roof is therible. The reduce cost and you have no more sun blind. The sommer will be hot

A-ok exterior design. oooh! more cool touchscreens = more hair pulling glitches. More piano black, more finer prints and obvious dust. A lot of oops wrong capacitive button pressed - more distractions. Great review and share to us viewers! This'll save me time from going to an Audi dealership and acquire the last gen with buttons.

I think exept this Dacia logo, oops Audi logo on the steering wheel, to put one more ugly display on it to finish with estetic look of all new wehicles and to finish this saga with displays. Oh, there is one more place, sunvisors. Really, very cheap logo on the steering wheel, ugly dashboard with ugliest displays. Please stop this, please.
reply

Hmm. Hate quite a lot about this: smaller boot, horrible black exterior trim and logos, no V6 diesel, no Allroad, dangerous touch screens, no opening sunroof even the steering wheel is unattractive. Looks like I’m going to be keeping my old Allroad for a lot longer.

Driver environment seems to be complete xeet. Big screens thouch screen lots of high reflection surfaces = crap when driving at night. Not good in daylight either.
Note: I have nothing against screens as such, if it is implemented in a practical, useful way.

It looks absolutely fantastic but I simply cannot fathom paying more than 30, 000 for a car with 200 horsepower. These cars clearly aren't meant for racing, but 52, 000 pounds to go from 0-60 in 8. 3 seconds is absolutely ludicrous. Audi can keep this one.
reply

And Audi officially ruined gorgeous interior they had in A6! Those screens are so ugly and I don't know why everybody follow this trend of exposing Tablet screens. It would be so much better if they are integrated in the dash.
reply

Between the 3 Big german brands I was always in favour of Merc for its luxury feeling and BMW for its looks but in 2025 I see a downfall of Merc, BMW is relatively the same but Audi is rising. Just look at this beatiful design.
reply

Wth 7 and 8 seconds to 60mph! WHY It’s REALLY lacking in power for NO reason, especially for a car of its class. That’s embarrassing. All that waste of tech to only have 200 hp under the hood. Ridiculous
reply

What it does have is a fantastic dashboard. Mind you, most dashboards are better than the long square TVs in BMWs these days. They look like they've been designed by amateurs and added as an afterthought.
reply

This is awesome. One of the only things I can think about when I see all of this technology on the exterior and interior is the electrical work. Having to find a parasitic draw would actually be hell.
reply

Audi's line up makes no sense now. When they replaced A4 with A5, they said all even model numbers are reserved for electric cars. Seems like Audi themselves are confused on what the future will be.
reply

Why does it sound like, that post mass market electric conversion gas cars will be sold for upwards premium Leaving them as trophies for billionaires wheareas today all can buy gas cars.
reply

This is nothing more than a Money Grab. Making the car more complex so they are unrepairable by the average person and forced to turn to Dealerships for repairs. No need for a 'Mild' hybrid.
reply

looks great but if frequently used as a city roundabout, Any high standard crossover would be so much easier to live with. Short and medium wagons yes! Large wagons no.
