Honda Civic vs Hyundai i30 vs SEAT Leon 2018 review - which is best

Family hatchbacks: buyers are spoiled for choice in this class - even when you look away at the obvious candidates. If you don-t fancy a Golf, a Focus or an Astra, the SEAT Leon, Honda Civic and Hyundai i30 are all impressive rivals. But which is best? I find out be taking a look at each car-s design and finding out which is the most spacious before heading out on the road for a drive

This fellow came to this test with preconceived notions. Now in 2020 [in lockdown], these cars' final positions would be reversed. It annoys me that car hacks continue to do this. What happened to warranty, reliability and other factors that were conveniently overlooked or largely ignored in the final score? However, I come from Australia where cars score differently, usually more powerful, and automatics are inverse to manuals cf the UK, and distances are huge, with a hot climate. So I see why the i30s rear air vents weren't big in this comparison. Other things aside, in Aussie, Seat would be a 'chair' 'cos it ain't sold here. As for the Civic. An embarrassment of wheels.

I had similar cars to choose. Took the middle ground which is seat. (2019 FR) I did get the ski hatch, the wierdness of the passenger seat is still there (if you want people behind to have room, you wont be able to open the glovebox, they did add a box to store things below the seat tho. The sport suspension you can feel a lot. Sometimes it is annoying. The consuption is very very good. 6 speed manual with 150hp petrol gives me around 5. 5 l/100km. It cost me around 23. 000 euros due to some added equipment. However, it is a perfect car for young people that enjoy driving and things like that

I own a Civic 1. 5turbo for a week now. I think it has a beautiful nose. But the rear end is a bit awkward. Not really a elegant design.
But the interior is very nice, it's very spacious. It sounds good in sport plus trim and is pretty fast and fun when you want it to drive it like a grandma and you'll never notice there is 182 horsepower. It's very quiet in low rpm.
The entertainment system is good for me. - Haven't noticed anything I have a problem with. You can change all the important stuff on your steering wheel.

I had a seat leon diesel. DREADFUL! Most unreliable car I have ever had and I have had a Simca in the past. If it could go wrong it did. Various sensors, cooling system, handbrake, water pump, gear box, fuel flap - the list is almost endless. Every time I got it fixed I would think -well it should be ok now- and then it would break again. It was the diesel FR (technology) so was not the cheapest version and I sold it at just over 50000 miles. I would never buy something from the VW group again.

I changed from Leon to Civic in 2018. I loved my Leon but the Civic is something else. It has a totally different feel and it is a cracking drive. I got it in black so all the weird grills disappear. The touchscreen is no problem, as responsive as you need it to be and the sat nav is far better than the leon (unless it changed after 2015. All in all I'm well chuffed, I might go for a type R next time!

Entertainment system in Honda is s--t. I have brand new Civic and is absolutely disaster. Laggy climate control, voice recognition hardy recognized anything, screen mirroring doesn't work etc. I spoke with Honda about it and Honda acknowledge the problem, but they won't do the update for entertainment system.

Civic was slower, uglier and had less user friendly infotainment than other two, basically it had just more boot space and that because it's bigger. I came to see general practicality of hyundai because i'm interested in n performance version but to be honest seat leon is a clear winner in this test

Two years before i was out for a car and despite the logic says -take hyundai- i bought opel mokka cause of 140ps and the classy interior.
Two years later and after 10-15 times visiting dealers cause of mechanical problems, sold bought the new Hyundai i30 and the car is f-- amazing!

Where are all these people who are constantly driving around with 4 adult passengers who are all over 6 foot? It's not a people carrier, it's a family car, it'll have kids in the back. And by the time they're too tall, they'll have their own car.
