Overall I m disappointed in this. The FK-2 and FK-8 in my opinion looked way better. Performance wise, obviously, only time will tell what we will think of it. I do like the telemetry that you get integrated into the infotainment system though, but that s a about it. The rear wing honestly is pathetic. I know I may be being harsh but I stand with my view on the car. It s just not the same. Take the Nissan Skyline (GT-R) for example. We all loved the R32, R33, and R34, but when the R35 came out, it just didn t scream Skyline like the others did and the Type-R seems to be falling into the same footsteps unfortunately. I know my view on the new Type-R may be a bit controversial but if anyone agrees or even disagrees with my view please say so as I d love to know what the community thinks of it.

5. 8 or even a slightly better 5. 5 seconds 0-60 mph is ridiculous for a modern day hot hatch, especially given the prices. Hell, i timed my 2022 Kia Sorento SX, which only has 281 hp/311 lb-ft and is a pretty large, boxy, average SUV, at 5. 4 seconds to 60 mph (actually, 100 kph, so 62 mph) on a somewhat sh tty road. And, as Mat said, a Golf R goes 1. 8 seconds quicker 0-60 mph than the current Type R for the same money while also being, arguably, a better everyday car. Honda needs to make some serious gains somewhere to make the new Type R a worthwhile purchase over its competitors. That said, this new Type R looks exponentially better than the last one, which was absolutely and unforgivably hideous.

The 0-60 times will be hampered by the fact that is a stick shift and front wheel drive. Yes, we all love stick. but for 0-60 numbers is not efficient and you will never get better numbers than with an automatic. The handling should be crisper and more communicative but again, the FWD will limit the possibilities. Braking should be better. Interior and styling it's already better. The one thing I'm not looking forward to is the fact that this car will be for only a few. With dealer's gouging markups I can see starting prices in the 65-70k or even more. That's ridiculous for a Honda. At that price you can buy more performance right out of the box.

The 0-60 times can be tricky and to whoever reads this, I own a slightly modified FK2 Type R which was the first turbo Type R offered. I've had it down the dragstrip at 4. 7 to 60mph and 13. 2 over the 1/4 mile which I've got actual proof of. So yes you can get a good launch but conditions need to be perfect and so is your launch, hence why these cars were not designed for that, it's a dream driving one of these especially as they're equipped with a helical limited slip diff from standard. Amazing cars, you'll only ever understand when you drive one.

I like the front, they've toned it down but in a good way.
Not so keen on the rear though, I do think there needs to be a little more going on, the wing also looks after market, that said if it's fully functional and does improve the cars cornering capability then I'm happy to overlook this.
I'm glad they have kept it front wheel drive with a manual gearbox though
Will be interesting to see how it does on track compared to the old one.
It will also be interesting to see what nurburgring lap time it achieves.

People can like the new type r without bashing on the old with lies.
1. The old type r's side/fender vents were real, they performed the same function as the new one.
2. The old type r's front vents could be cut out when user decided to modify/build more power. (similar to mk4 supra which has even more fake vents, designed to be cut out when more power is built)

I'm much more likely to consider buying this Type R. I wouldn't have ever bought the last version - it looked ridiculous. The Civic is a classy car, and it's always had nicer driving dynamics than it's competition. The Type R, imo, should continue the classiness. If a teenager can afford a bodykit, let the aftermarket fill that need.

Looks much nicer and more grown up, but it's a shame it's still worst-wheel drive. After driving hot hatches with 4WD I won't go back! It's not about 0-60 times, 4WD makes a genuine difference in practical everyday driving when leaving junctions and roundabouts and such, especially in poor road conditions.

This new type R, looks so much better than the last gen, it looks like it has grown up since then, I think the front is the best that ive seen. i think i would prefer a ducktail (for the looks, no performance, but is a better type R in every angle.

It's great that Honda recognise that real driving happens when you have 3 pedals and don't live for 0 to 60 times, if you want that just buy a tesla plaid and beat practically every car out there while being environmentally friendly too.

Honda really doesn't want to sell many of these and it shows! STILL no AWD model, so yet another generation skipped. Maybe someday, but who knows? I guess when Honda gets desperate for sales they may actually change it, but I doubt it.

It's a bit forgettable. A bit better looking than the last one, but it's still doesn't have anything outstanding. It may be a good car, but it's not doing anything for me. If you're going to do these, you HAVE to go all-out.

I got a feeling that wide body with side vents would look real nice minus the tail. lovely looking really like it this is now something I would buy the teen Boy racer style was a little to much.

Wonder if Renault will do something about it! noting none of the mentioned hot hatches are FF formatting. Stage 1 tuned Golf GTI would be more relevant imo. All in all, it's quiet a pretty great looking car.
