That is what I called an unfair advantage. The Range Rover was much Newer than than the Cruiser. Maybe you do not get the latest Cruiser with off-road Tech. In Sourh Africa Cruisers is much more favoured, because of xtreme capability! (In fact the average offroader look down on Range Rover, we don't even aloow them were we go) The model to compare the Range Rover with would be the Toyota Land Cruiser model: 300 V6 3. 5T ZX petrol 305Kw 650Nm 12. 1 lt/100km or GR-S or even the 3. 3D GX-R.
The specs is like this.
Front & Back Differential Locks, Electronic KiteticDynamic suspension, AWD Integrated Management, Blindspot monitoring, Rear cross traffic alert, Toyota's next-generation Safety Sense of. Collision avoiding interventions, Lane keeping with steering vibration and lane Trace Assist.
Multi terrain select off road modes; incl. Auto, dirt, sand, mud or rock, 4x4, adjustable suspension,
Power tailgate, Adaptive Cruise control, black leather interior with woodgrane trimming, updated Multi Function steering wheel, 3D Multi Terrain Monitor that incorporates Panoramic View Monitor. It is fine when you're in a country road in Wales and its raining, but in ragget off-road terrain and you've left sivilization behand and it's only you and the Great Outdoors.

I dunno about the tire thing. if Toyota is providing a vehicle with off road tires, these tires would not be practical for everyday use. which, let s face it. 99% of the people buying both of these luxury liners will be on paved roads. IMHO, IF you wanted a more realistic comparison. the tires should ve been changed out to at least give the appearance of fairness. and the drag race dude driving the RR was sleeping at the line

Matt carwow I got a special request. An off-road challenge between the first gen ('13-16) FWD & AWD Mazda CX-5. Better off a manual FWD CX-5, auto FWD CX-5 and auto AWD CX-5. The manual includes the 2L and the auto either 2L or 2. 5L. I'd like to see what you, Darren and the team thinks of this model and its 8. 5 /216mm of ground clearance in these challenges!

The current land/range rover makes no sense to me. It used to be rugged=defender, capable offroad=disco, family offroad=freelander, luxury offroad=range rover. Now it is rugged = none, capable offroad = none, family offroad = jaguar, luxury offroad = disco, defender & range rover. ?

Those low profile tires are a liability offroad. In real conditions you're going to beat your rims to death. I doubt you can get good offroad tires in that size. But it doesn't matter, because very few will take a Range Rover on serious offroad. Off-roaders buy the defender.

As much as the Range Rover is beautiful to look at, only very rich people with more money than sense can justify such thing.

Also the windscreen and front windows tint might just be borderline legal.

The RR has low profile tires and it's not fair. Although, I consider myself a die-hard fan of Range Rovers and a 70's era Classic owner, I still believe apart from class and appeal, the Land Cruiser has always been superior to the Range Rover and will remain.

Damn, that new Range Rover looks the business in that spec. It's also reassuring that now it has a BMW engine and a ZF transmission, so they'll be reliable. Don't know how much that helps though, because everything else will break. Still a very desirable car

Unless the vehicles are using the exact same brand/model of tires, these are pointless comparisons. It's equivalent to two people racing with one wearing loafers and the other wearing running shoes.

You should mention the model year of the land cruiser.
It's not fair because there are new land cruisers now, and even if they are not available there, you should mention this one is X year old.

Im gonna guess the Range is the better offroad car but the Toyota will keep driving after a few bumps and 200 000miles (if it has a toyota engine and not renault engine like in proace)

i mean apart from reliability and repair cots the land rover is amazing I mean it can do actual off-road stuff and it's luxurious and it can trow a punch when you need to have fun

Matt does not seem to know all the bells and whistles the LC has. He forgot the crawl control and also the lock of the rear wheels on one side to give you a tighter tank like turn.

It should be would you rather Range Rover or 5 land cruisers. In that case it would be always Toyota. Otherwise I'll take RR, sell it real quick and buy land cruiser and keep 108k
