The Peterbilt 579 UltraLoft is one of the most sophisticated semi trucks ever built. Semi-trucks carry BILLIONS of dollars worth of goods, being driven across BILLIONS of miles of highways. Close to 70% of goods being delivered to your door were at one point being pulled by a semi. That s a lot of money and a lot of responsibility on the truck AND the driver. But this show isn t called H2B (hat 2 boots, so sorry Dale, we can t teach the kids about your Steston and your Tony Lamas. But what we can do is dive into one of the biggest, smartest, most tech heavy semi trucks ever to hit the road - the Peterbilt 579 UltraLoft

I m a trucker and I appreciate this one ( first time commenting on any of your videos ) you re right about the shifting, I ll be at a light and I m running through gears like a Kung-Fu master blocking shots and you re behind me like Damn that thing is slow and holding me up just give us room and don t cut us off or brake check ( for your safety )

Gotta love the gearing. I've done some modifying on my '90 yota flatbed to add another reduction box for a total of 15 speeds.
Now my 2. 4l gas motor makes over 5000 FT LBS of torque at idle in its lowest gear. Unfortunately I can't go highway speeds with that gearing, but it sure is fun on the rocks!

Well. If you think that 80 000 lbs is a lot of pulling power. Well in Sweden the trucks can with ease pull 140 000 lbs. And fin fast. The swedish truck marker Volvo holds the record fore the heviest pull by a singel truck (100 meters) wich was 1. 65 million lbs or 750 tones.

I'm a truck driver myself. Im driving a 2019 peterbilt 579 ultraloft. Just wanted to say the 609hp is the performance model x15, whereas the common efficiency model puts out 455hp and somewhere around 1500tq I'd say. This truck I have does the job well regardless

Dude I always wanted to talk to u why don't u guys consider making a video on the dragster culture u can do an up to speed on it it would be really fun to know about the fastest accelerating thing in the world which work on an ic engine

So what about an engine swap? 15L cummins in a F150 or something?
I think any smaller car would waay too small to fit the engine and transmission.
Maybe you can use the space in the back of a big pick up truck to fit such a giant

Gutted I still prefer James and I'm not saying this to insult but it's easier to understand a fun evening take the piss off few thing but the way he explained it is 10 times better and might because it was him originally like

Hah 15t in that kind of truck with 605hp no way. We in albania put 30t load in a two axle 2002 scania with straight 6 turbocharged engine 470hp with a three axle semitrailer. if I have that I will put 50t on it.

This video had a very general overview on an 18wheeler and little to no specific information on what separates the peterbuilt 579 Ultraloft from a kenworth or freightliner or even a peterbuilt 389.

Hi guys, just one remark, the engines shown dropping into the chassis around 9. 10 are actually Peterbilt/Kenworth's own engines (not Cummins) called the Paccar line of engines. Great video though.
